Hi all.
My birthday is June next year and we are talking about going to NYC for it. I need to shift a few stone plus save up so I don't really want to go before April/May. Mum has suggested September but I am planing on going to university next September and I run the risk that I need to sort things out before I go and taking a holiday might not be a good idea.
We want to avoid school holidays ideally.
When would you say is a good time to go? We want to do some sightseeing (Statue of liberty, Statten island ferry, bus tour, TV tour are at the top of the list)
Is it really hot and sicky in June time?0 -
Hi My 16 year old DD would love to go to New York.....thinking of next year, probably April, but would have to be in Easter school holidays.
We can fly from either Newcastle or Edinburgh.....any advice on best (cheapest) days to fly?
Would like to fly direct, but seems very expensive.....so would change at Heathrow.
Which is the best airport to fly into/return from...and quickest/easiest journey into New York?
Finally.... I found a price of £750 each staying at Metro hotel including breakfast for 4 nights....this seems a good price?
It was with British Airways, flying from Newcastle
Had thought of february half term, but it would be freezing......
Any help would be appreciated....:)
Could you get a shuttle to Heathrow? Manchester airport does one- I don't know if any others do but maybe worth a look as cheaper than driving and probably flying. Train might be an option also? But then it is lugging a lot of luggage on the tube- fine on the way out but probably not as fun on the way back.0 -
Hello again,
I'd like to thank Mark for all the help previously he has offered me :T
Just one last question, we are going to book the hotel directly through the website (The Hotel Belleclaire) the price is showing as ~$753 does anyone have an idea what this will cost in pounds once I pay on my card? If it helps, its a Visa Debit HSBC.
Cheers,

We went in June 4 years ago. It was 101 degrees and New Yorkers were leaving the city. But it isn't necessarily that bad every year. We've also been in September /October and I think September is my favourite because you can still get many gorgeous sunny days.0 -

i think about£465+£15 bank charge?0 -
Ditch the Transfers. Seriously, that's expensive for a shuttle transfer. I'd get a taxi.... at $55 plus toll ($15), and tip ($10) that's cheaper than £35 each, and also you'll get to the Hotel quicker, as the shuttle could sit in the airport for two hours, and then go around every other hotel before yourself, it'll take easily 3-4 hours, instead of around 1 hour if you get a taxi. If you can't ditch the transfers, then just don't use them!
The hotel isn't the best, but the price is a bargain. I'm surprised it is so cheap, without having a saturday night stay in.
I stayed at the milford plaza with my Mom a few years ago, was the perfect hotel to go to time square, its on your doorstep (30second walk) loved it!Halifax loan - 6800 - 198 DD a month
Barclay card 0% - £2000 - £150 DD a month0 -

I'm going to New York from 9 - 16 November :j and was looking at staying at the Eastgate Tower.
I've pinned everything I want to visit on a google map to see if it's near by. But I'm a bit dim...is the Eastgate well placed for subway lines etc? I couldn't really tell to be honest! I've read pretty much everything here and found out that's it better to be near a variety of lines.
I'm open to options for hotels - my budget is about £145 per room (as long as it has 2 separate beds) if there is somewhere better that you learned peeps know about.
Sorry for the rambling post, but any hotel affirmations/ideas would be gratefully received!:hello:

Closest metro looks to be Grand Central which is about a 10 min walk max. http://goo.gl/maps/1sBKl Its a central line and you can change easily by the look of things. What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -

Thanks for this! You know how you just worry unnecessarily (or at least I do...) My friend and I are used to walking so I'm sure we can manage 10 minutes!:hello:
