I was also naive and prosumed the same as you. I went on one on my first, when I found out about there conditions etc on my return I felt really awful as I am passionate about animal rights however as a tourist you don't know these things until people who have been many times make you aware of it.
New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

    Hi
A question for Mark or anyone else in the know. I previously asked about booking transfers from JFK to hotel due to there being 5 of us.

mark posted that there are taxis available for 5 people and luggage does anyone know if there are many of them or is there a chance I could be waiting in a queue for ages.

Just wondering would you recommend waiting for a taxi or booking the transfers.

    thanks

There are usually as many of the larger cabs as there are normal sized ones, one word to the wise regarding all taxi drivers in NY is never assume they know where they are going always have your ave and cross street ready, personally I tend to write it down as its rare to even find one who understands the english language

Even the English speaking cabbies couldn't understand if you have a "Local Accent"Huge difference in The English spoken word and The American spoken word. The grid road system is the best city i have ever visited but as Phat says you need to have cross Ave&Street . 6 passengers (8seater)MPV are very common and you wont need to wait any longer at JFK unless there are alot of larger groups which isnt common. On return have a word at the hotel desk or concierge and get them to book one for you.
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
