Suite doesn't mean expensive, it can do, but it doesn't have to.

I got a really good deal 3 months before last year for Thanksgiving, think it just depends on how hard you look really.

The main thing is that you know what terms to use to find what you want. To get 3 beds in one 'room', you're going to need a suite of some kind!

Finally booked a trip to new york and really looking forward to it. We're heading over 13th-17th October (Thurs-Mon)
I was hoping to see either a baseball game or basketball when there but can't find any info regarding tickets for this dates. seems like the Knicks are playing away that weekend but can't see anything for the Yankees.
Are there any other teams worth seeing? and how much do tickets cost?

    Anyone?

Also has anyone done the sex and the city tour, is there only one to choosefrom? My wife is very keen on doing this - any views?

    Thanks

You'll be too late in October for baseball season (Yankees or Mets).

There are pre-season basketball (Knicks or Nets) games scheduled but unfortunately it looks like both teams would only be playing away games during the time you'll be there. Not sure where they're up to now, but certainly a couple of weeks ago there was some concern over whether the 2011/12 NBA season would go ahead anyway as the players & owners had failed to reach an agreement on renewal of their collective bargaining agreement.

If you'd be interested in seeing an American Football game instead, both the Giants and Jets are playing at home (both play at the Meadowlands stadium in NJ) during your trip - Buffalo Bills @ NY Giants on Sunday 16th and Miami Dolphins @ NY Jets on Monday 17th. Details of the NFL schedule are here if you're interested - there are also links to buy tickets through the official NFL Ticket Exchange...I've no idea if this is the best way to go but looks like they start at $85 for the Giants and $95 for the Jets so not exactly a cheap night out if all you want is to see some kind of American sports event.

Mets maybe, but Yankees are going to be in the Post Season which runs in October. The regular season finishes last week of September.

Thanks for that - are there any smaller basketball teams worth seeing. Also what about the soccer team? Is it the red bulls? Will their season be started?

    Thanks

I haven't been, but have read mixed reviews on trip advisor and other forums

I opted not to go and I managed to find many of the sights of SATC whilst walking and exploring. Carrie's stoop, Magnolia Bakery etc

Thanks - we ended up booking it as it will keep her happy and the tour seems to go around the meat packing district where there are plenty bars and restaurants which will keep me happy in the evenings!! We would have been doing a tour of some sort anyway so this will be it for us.
Anyone recommend bars for the evening, maybe music bars. We're staying at the W new york but quite happy to take cabs to any area if it guarentees a good night out!!

It's the one on Lexington Avenue - not too far from times square/central park hopefuly and seems to be some restaurants quite close by.
