We went to see the !!!!!! beatles there. I had a nice night, but cringed all night long.
  • I enjoyed a great night at Cafe Wha in Greenwich. Little basement club with live house band doing great covers - buckets of beer  and platters of nachos, falafels etc. No cover change in the week.

Thanks - do you have to book this or can we turn up on the night and pay at the door?
What kind of prices is it for beer etc there?

    Hi

I went on a Wednesday and just turned up but you can book.

I got there for 9 and watched two sets until midnight but folks came in all through the night.

There is no cover charge Wednesday or Sunday but its from $5 upwards other nights. The house band are great and I would recommend seeing them.

They have drinks deals so its cheaper for buckets of bottles or pitchers of cocktails. There was a drinks minimum but that is fine as you will be there a couple of hours. From memory it was either $20 $24 for 6 bottles of corona in a bucket.

Platters of nibbles about $7 and you got loads!!!

Lots of cheap bars in the area, some a bit dive-like or studenty but with good vibes - very village atmos. X

Being from Merseyside i would do the same and teach them a thing or two (although one fella thought john lennon was american and from NYC)Cant be worst than Turkey a few years back when a "local" sang that McCartney & Wonder song Ebory & Ivaney. Saw Oleta Adams/ Vonda Shepard / Darlene Love in the past Just Missed the commitments Paddys day 2007. Darlene Love christmas party is one not to miss (without checking from memory dec 11th)

Thanks for the advice about suites/apartments etc. I'm kind of drawn to Sky City Apartments in Jersey City, either at 70 Greene Street or nearby at Portside Towers.

For what look like very nice 2-bed apartments, we're being quoted $309/night for https://www.skycityapts.com/apts/portside/2bed/ and $329/night for https://www.skycityapts.com/apts/greene/2bed/ for a 7-night stay.

Has anyone here stayed in either of these buildiings or elsewhere with Sky City (they have apartments in Manhattan too)? For what you get, does this sound like a good deal?

I'd love to get some opinions.
    Thanks,

Without dates of your stay, it is hard to say if it's a good deal or not.
Many apartment rentals in New York City are illegal, however ones in New Jersey are not, as it is a different state.

Good point! We're looking at approx 4th - 11th April next year, which is during the Easter half-term. Willing to adjust a few days either way if flights can be found cheaper, but the whole thing needs to be within the half-term which is 31st March - 15th April, incl. weekends.

I think I read one of your previous posts (or someones) about apartment lets being illegal in NY - but not in NJ as you say. Did you say there's a register of them somewhere? I've looked on the nyc.gov site but didn't see anything there.

    Thanks for your help.
