I know a lot of people don't venture far out of midtown...
 :T
That's awesome, cheers M! I'm wondering if the missus would go for two days of shopping for two pub crawls?! Ha ha!
Just a quick one, as an aside to the boozing. In your opinion, for the pretty much whole day it takes up, is visiting the Statue of Liberty worth it? I've seen mixed reviews with some people suggesting that the Statten Island Ferry is a better, cheaper, quicker option. I don't want to 'waste' a whole day on one sight ... when I could be crawling around some pubs!"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."

Cheers GF. Photo from the Ferry it is I think!
Have you or M4RKM been to a game of baseball? The Yankees are playing the Red Sox while we're there and I'd really like to go for the spectacle alone. Any hints and tips if you have?"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."

Hints and tips for baseball:
Make sure you take i.d if you want a drink, mrs pb, who is in her early 40's got carded and a guy who looked like santas older brother got refused a drink because they didnt have i.d
Eat/drink before you get there its quite expensive when you get into the stadium.
Dont get hung up about arriving on time or staying till the end, the locals tend to come and go as they please.
Dont expect it to be as exciting as a game of football.
The red sox are their biggest rivals so if you want to get tickets i would suggest doing it a.s.a.pLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Cheers PB, that's some great advice. Just a couple of questions;
What sort of ID would you recommend. Don't want to take my passport everywhere, but will if needs be.
I saw that Red Sox were their biggest rivals, which swayed me into wanting to go. I've looked at a few ticket sites, but am a tad unsure about what to go for seating wise.
I'm not really a big football fan to be honest, so at least I don't have that to compare it to!
Want to go to a Broadway show as well (Wicked). Would you suggest the same thing for tickets ... sooner rather than later?"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."

photocard driving licence would also do the job. I believe it needs to be photo ID, and show your dob. Well, a bit pointless without that!Signature removed for peace of mind0

I found Eastgate Tower, Junior Suite, which is 2 beds, plus sofa, and full kitchen. (Think fridge, and beers!) It is USD 2,682.75 in total for the room, (that includes tax) which is then working out to be £55.89p per person per night. It's in Manhattan, it's a short walk to the subway, you can easily head to areas of the city for nightlife (yes, get into Williamsburg, it's awesome!).
We stayed at the Eastgate tower hotel (three sisters) - junior suite - two double beds (not sure what the size maybe queen) and a sofa bed - it was huge (along with kitchen/bathroom). The only thing was the lifts were quite rickety and I was certain at one point it was stuck)
As MM said its very close to everything took 5/10 mins to get to 5th avenue and if you do stay there, it's just round the corner from the chrysler building (we got lost trying to find the empire state building the first morning we were there...). Also just round the corner is a diner called scottys - recommended by some who works at the hotel and it was absolutely fantastic (staff were very friendly at all times and their breakfasts were lovely - http://scottysnyc.com/mobile/scottys/198/categories.m )Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -

Regarding seats it depends how much you want to pay, the cheapest seats are gonna be the bleechers, however they are uncovered so if it rains you're gonna get wet, they are also the furthest from the home plate, personally I tend to go for tickets just behind the home plate but highish up, still get a good view, on the next trip we've got the yankees vs the oakland a's which in total were about $90 for the pair direct from the yankees.
Regarding the statement about football the point I was trying to make is its not the most atmospheric sport as it tends to drag on a bit.
Re wicked tickets I highly recommend
broadwaybox.com
ive used them before for spamalot tickets, the good thing with the site over TKTS booth in NY is you know you have got the tickets prior to going on holiday.
Hope this helpsLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Hey, don't twist my words. I never say anything is close to everything!!! I said It's in Manhattan, it's a short walk to the subway, you can easily head to areas of the city for nightlife
That does not mean it is close to everything, because it's impossible that anywhere is close to everything in New York...0 -

Thought you found it boring but you're still going again? Not got time to comment, but I did see Red Sox @ Yankees last year, and it was packed til gone midnight until the Yankees won in extra innings.
Roll on Thursday when baseball season begins.
