to those helpful people here.... after reading all the posts I would like a little advice as to whether the following itinerary is do-able, realistic and includes all for a first time visitor..
Staying at the Westin Times Square for 4 nights
Day 1
Arrive airport approx 1400
Taxi to Hotel and unpack
Taxi down to Brooklyn Bridge to step on (not walk right across)
Walk from Brooklyn Bridge to Ground Zero then to Century 21
Subway back to Times Square - Do the Square at night and grab something to eat - anyone some great places to eat in Times Square or just off.
Day 2
Walk to Museum of modern Art
Walk to Trump Tower via Tiffanys
FAO Schwartz
tram to Boathouse Loeb for lunch
Walk to Strawberry Field and Dakota
Carriage to Guggenheim
Top of the Rock
Evening Meal recommendations for this evening?
Day 3
ESB at 8am
Subway to Staten Island Ferry - view Statue of Liberty then back again
Wall Street
NY Stock Exchange
Trinity Church
Find Ghostbusters Firehouse
Intrepid and Sea Air Museum
Circle Line Night Cruise
Need another great restaurant
Day 4
Shopping Day.....
Macy's
Bloomingdales
Saks
Grand Central Station
Chrysler Byilding
possible helicopter Tour
Broadway Show/TV Show
Day 5
Grenwich Village
China Town

Depart for the airport at 3
Need to fit in for food -
katz Deli

Anything missing???
I am a planner and need to understand if this is a realistic plan or if there are any other suggestions. I would really appreciate those in the know to share their wisdom.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm looking to book a holiday for two to NYC in June sometime, roughly during the week of the 8th.
The best flight offer I've found so far is Edinburgh for £540 return from the 9th - 13th.
I'm hoping to leave from Glasgow or Edinburgh, non-stop.
Can anyone find anything better? I'm looking to stay for 3 or 4 nights.
Thanks!0 -

£540 is a good price for direct. You could beat this if you are prepared fly Aer Lingus and change in Dubin. One advantage of this is that you clear US immigration in Dublin so are treated as a domestic passenger on arrival.0 -

Hate to quote such a long post but hey ho!!
Is your plans in order everyday, if so you are up and downing an awful lot.
Food at time square, im a fan of virgils and dallas bbq.
Katz deli is over hyped and the food is pretty mediocre.
The firehouse for ghostbusters is at 5 north moore street/varick street.
Why not walk over brooklyn bridge?Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Agree with Phatbear-
Bob Mushroom you have most there but in a little higgledy piggledy order there is a google pin map here somewhere just look at it and you will see if the places you are going to are in the order you plan . Your doing figure 8s on a few days and going up and down NYC isnt that big but not worth going through somewhere only to go back that way too. The Westin is a great hotel in a great location for 1st time vistors. The place is buzzing . Shulas Restraunt is in the Westin my favorite steakhouse ever. Very good food. For a all singing dancing foodie check out Ellens stardust diner (youtube it) the gaff is better than the food but it is true theatre, Juniors is a decent foodie in Time Square also. Ghostbusters is a cracking movie and when your walking down some streets in NYC you have that Deja Vue feeling and know whats around the corner sometimes. So many films just being filmed around NYC (we are in Bourne Ultimatum) hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -

It's a very packed schedule and, in my opinion, it's over-planned. You could be spending half of the time dashing from one side of the city to another. Half of the fun of NYC is just wandering around, watching the world go by and seeing what you bump into.
Yes, there is a lot to see and do but you don't have to do it all in one trip. Save some for next time.0 -
A very unpacked if arranged better and a little understanding of places such as writing Chrysler Building /Dakota /Flat iron etc dont know how long your neck can take in these iconic landmarks but it will be a building you dont enter and just look at .(as your at the westin the chrysler & grand central are places you will natrally pass)Do Grand Central when getting the train do freedom tower visit when your going into C21 I would like to say if you in a cab to go to Brooklyn Bridge go to brooklyn for a few hours enjoy the area the walk back over and the views from and of Brooklyn, Day 5 is so chilled to enjoy NYC and its neighbourhoods and if you want to see wall st working dont go at a weekend ENJOY NYC:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
