  • I hope someone can give me a little advice here! We land at Newark @ 20.15pm on a sunday and are staying at the Radisson Lexington on 46th St how easy is it to get there using public transport? Maybe I'm just used to everything over here shutting down on a sunday evening but it's the one aspect of our trip that I'm unsure about i.e. pre-book a car or use the train/subway. If someone could give me a pointer that would be great!

20.15 is not late at all when it comes to NYC.

Get the airtrain, then get an NJ Transit Train to New York Penn Station. Hop on the subway, get the E train, and you'll be about 6 blocks walk away.

You could also jump in a taxi from Penn station, to the hotel, and that will be around $10

    Please advise :)

Myself and Partner are 1st timers to New York so any advise will be welcomed!

Flying into Newark Saturday (Afternoon) March 26th. We would like advise if poss on reliable (cost effective) transfers. I have read about this transfer:
    http://www.viator.com/tours/New-York-City/New-York-Arrival-Shuttle-Transfer-Airport-to-Hotel/d687-2928NYCAPTHTL

Price worked out at £25.00 pp Return.

Has anyone used this shuttle? Is this good or would a yellow cab from and to airport be better?

Also as mentioned above we are staying at the Wellington on 7th Avenue - Have read some very mixed reviews so hope booking Wellington was not a mistake! Anybody know it? Price was within our budget range.

Flights with BA from Manchester - Heathrow - Newark x 2
Plus Wellington Hotel for 3 nights (double Room)
    Plus Travel Insurance

    Price £1200

I haggled with 2 different travel agents to get this price so hope it was good!

Many thanks in advance for any (much appreciated) replies

Price is ok (no bargain and not ripped off)good flight times on a saturday. Wellington never stayed but uk Travel Agents are always pushing deals . Last time i looked at Trip Advisor it was ok . Make NYC amazing by the things you do .As long as the bed is comfy and clean youll be good . Dont know about the shuttle link sorry but for $50 return its cheaper than a cab or car one way. Wellington is easy to find
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • Your price sounds ok to me, ljholts.
We used the Newark Liberty Airport Express bus service (runs about every 15 mins) from Newark into Manhattan. It was $25 each for return tickets and took around 30 minutes or so. They drop off at Port Authority Bus Terminal off 8th Avenue, Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal, if I remember rightly.
As Greenface says, it's what you do and see that makes NYC fantastic. We spent very little time in the hotels we stayed in. Jetlag meant we were up and about really early, making the most of every minute :-) Have a fab time!
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

We stayed at the Wellington in October. It came highly recommended by local travel agent and we chose it because the price was right. We had free Virgin flights to New York due to us being bumped off a flight the previous year so only had the hotel to pay for.

We stayed for three days, then went on a cruise for seven days and stayed again for four days on our return.

The second room we had was far superior to the first room. The hotel was OK. I think that when you are in NY you only need somewhere to sleep and shower so it was fine. It is an excellent position between Times Square and Central Park.

The hotel is very very busy. It is obviously used by coach companies for both American and overseas tourists. When we were there it was full of a French tour group and then a couple of days later it was innundated by a group of German students.

I'm sure you will be fine.
