NYC may be city that never sleeps but in these times of heightened security I did not think there would be such places, there are plenty of cities that don't sleep but I have not heard of such a service before.

You have obviously been to NYC plenty of times compared to my couple and as such have some knowledge on the subject, but is there any need to be so arrogant when replying to other peoples posts?

M4RKM is not being arrogant this is just he's sense of humour hence the mood stamp he left after he's post and is a mind of knowladge of NY.

Ha ha disappointingly we ate at maccys on Canal st,China town. The meals were the same size as the brit versions.

Compared to ordering a small pizza one night that was the size of a bin lid,a brit 9" version, lol.

    Hi

Am going in March to NYC for two nights and then picking up a cruise for 9 nights. We get kicked off the cruise ship early in the morning and do not fly out until much later on that day. In order to try and do a bit more sight-seeing, is there anywhere we would be able to leave our suitcases? Thanks.

Schwarz Travel is the only viable option I've found as well. Are you by any chance going on the Explorer of the Seas? As I'm doing a 9 night cruise on that in March and like you, get kicked off the ship relatively early and our flight home isn't until 7.45pm. I checked with Continental and the earliest they will check in our bags is 4 hours before :(

We struggled to find somewhere offering this service for my parents in law and were told it was due to the security issues as you say (although it may be that maybe we did not look hard enough)

Walk out of your hotel, turn left, cross the road, and you will have passed three of each.

Obviously that only works if you're staying in Midtown Manhattan. Other areas, they're few and far between, and a little point, if you, like me, hate the huge chains, then stay at the Hotel Le Jolie, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. You can walk around the whole of Williamsburg, and you will not find a McDonalds or a Starbucks (though the hotel does serve "starbucks coffee").

Heading to NYC in April en route back from Central America and am planning some shopping! Have not visited for a few years, where I stayed with family in NJ and always visited Woodbury Commons and Century 21. Any other shopaholics been recently with any good shopping advice?! Can't wait!!!!

Also, has anyone travelled with continental? Have already looked at best rows to sit in.
  • We flew with Continental LHR-EWR-LHR last year and, have to say, it was fine. It certainly wasn't an uncomfortable flight, and their in flight entertainment selection was great. The only downside was no free alcohol. I would certainly fly with them again.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

Flying long haul without free alcohol should be against the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners.

I personally wouldn't bother with Woodbury Commons. The time and cost to get there, I would say will easily outweigh any savings. Also, the stock they have is either specifically for an outlet mall, or last seasons style, which I wouldn't want to be seen wearing. If you really must go, do plenty of shopping in Manhattan first, and see if you actually need to go. There are other places other than Century 21 in Manhattan, such as Nordstrom Rack, H&M, Daffys, etc. Plus then the full price places (and still, you get sales, and discounts), like Bloomingdales, Macy's, and Saks 5th Ave.

And this is the reason why I won't fly with CO. I think they're really now one of the last Transatlantic airlines, that still charge for booze. I fly Delta, and they give me free booze.
