  • Hi
I am flying Delta to NYC and has flown with them before - one way we had personal TVs and on the return we had overhead TVs. Tried to find out the situation this time around but can't work it out - we are on a Boeing 757-200 but there seems to be several of them??? any clue - we are flying MAN-JFK. Thanks

Just got back this morning from my first visit to NY and I LOVE THAT PLACE!! I have to say it really is an eye opener going there! The people are so helpful and friendly, the subway is fantastic (except after midnight on a weekend when the lines are changed with no warning and it's harder to flag a cab), the shops and sights are out of this world! For anyone who cannot make up their mind whether or not to go, just do it, you wont regret it!

We had fantastic weather over the weekend into the 30's and it made it all the more enjoyable. It was off the back of a trip to Hawaii so finished off the holiday perfectly! Thanks for all the help and advice here :)

  • Just thought id recommend the city passes if you are site seeing we found them great and got discount from some shopping places and got $10(each card so $20) off our meal at planet hollywood it was sooo nice too!

We went 13th - 18th temp was late 20's - 30's everyday although they was a mini tornado one night!

we flew with american airline direct man - jfk both good flights and got a meal and then a snack later. stayed in hotel 31... wasnt a brill place but clean and it was somewhere to crash.

Ground Zero is no longer groundzero just a huge building site i was gutted as there is no memorial or anything just alot of builders (some are hot though ;) )

if your travel sick i wouldnt recommend going very far in a NYC cab as they (and all drivers in NYC) seam to drive like loonatics lol.

make sure you have a brolly as it could rain at anytime.
    TAKE COMFY SHOES!!!

    place to see/do
    statue of libery
empire state building (the 102 floor isnt that much different just $15 more)
top of the rock (amazing building)
Logo shop(next to top of the rock quite cool models)
    macys
Century 21 department store (next to ground zero CHEAP branded clothing spent more then in macys)
the NYPD museum very cool and emotional as has the 9/11 memorial there!
The M&M (as in sweets) shop in times sq was awesome too HUGE!!!

well I totally enjoyed myself it was brilliant. although we was crashed out by 9 sometime 8pm everynight cause we had done so much walking and seeing everyday.

I also got proposed to by my OH in a little jewelry store on pearl st! :D

    Hi

Can anyone please recommend a good tour company for NY?
The are 9 of us inc 5 kids aged 6 to 13

Trip advisor had good reviews of http://www.realnewyorktours.com/ (walking)

Also came across fun tours http://www.zerve.com/FunTours/viptour which sounds pricey but is chauffeur driven

Was also looking at simply getting a tour bus/coach but read so many opposing views on tripadvisor I stopped looking.

Ideally a bus tour where you can get on/off but worried we will not get back on if they are not regular or full

    Any experiences welcome (particularly families)

    Thanks

    Yoghurt

i used these last time i went was able to hop on and off no problem enabling me to visit the places i wanted rather than where the tour guide went.

  • Good afternoon all...

I'm heading out there on 3rd November.

Want to take in a basketball game. What's the chances of getting some Knicks tickets and how much is it going to cost?

    Cheers in advance.

We brought our knicks tickets direct from madison square garden. But you can get them from stubhub aswell

Prices range from the insane to the affordable, depending on how far away from the court you are willing to be.

On our return we fly from JFK to Heathrow then get a flight from
Heathrow to Manchester. Can anyone tell me, can we buy any duty
free at JFK and bring it back? The thing thats bothering me is we have
to check in at BMI Heathrow so surely liquids would be taken from us?
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!
