The rooms we had were ensuite. Not saying they all are, but surprised if not.

    Hi guys,

thanks for all the advice. I spoke to my friend and apparently it includes tax and breakfast so still feel like we might be having a pretty good deal, especially as it's two double beds and has such positive feedback on trip advisor...

Will report back though and let you know how it is!

Now off to look at the thread for shopping and eating (and drinking!)

    Thanks,

    Kaz

  • hi,

Can anyone tell me is £500 ok for a 4day trip to New York staying at a 4* hotel in mid march this year? (This is through the BA site)
We are planning to go on monday morning (15th march) and come back thursday evening (18th march).
I did look at the Cosmopolitan hotel which was very cheap however with the flights being so expensive it comes to around 450ish so id rather spend that little bit extra and stay at a 4/5* hotel.

Anyone any advice? Should i wait another week or so? Or will the flights go back up again?

    Thanks all

While we wait for Mark and the other experts, I think if you could be there for a Saturday night you would find the flights go down in price. Any chance of adjusting the trip dates?

  • I discussed going with my boyfriend, and he suggested we wouldnt have the money... So I was left in a predicament... Wait a while longer (Bearing in mind I'd rather go when its cheaper and not so cold, so after September, I'm looking at March/April-ish 2011!) but go for a week OR save a bit harder and try and get something cheaper in order for us to still go in August/September this year.
The rational side of me decided to wait and save up more money, reasoning that four days there wouldnt be enough.
But then today I suddenly pictured the Brooklyn bridge and now I really want to go this year :(

I did all the shopping things on my first trip, so maybe four days WOULD be enough, as there's a lot of things I did last time that I wouldnt need to do again
I'm working on about a grand for flights and hotel for two of us, and 300/400 quid spending money each... I dont want to stay in a hostel, or anywhere with a shared bathroom...
  • Hi Saavy_Sue not sure if you are replying to me or someone else?

dates are deffo flexible. So going over on a friday and staying the saturday will mean its cheaper? When checking just the flight prices, weekends seemed alot more expensive!?

Yes it was you I was replying to. I'm no expert, I just remember that as something Mark has said. But obviously it may not always 'work'. Or maybe it's hotel prices it affects? Who knows ...

I understand this is the New York thread and New York is a fantastic city - But there are loads of other places that blow it out of the water. Both Venice and Rome are better than NYC, Paris isn't and neither is London, I know you won't get to the Far East but Beijing and Singapore are better, in terms of the USA, Las Vegas, Denver and Washington DC all better than NYC.

In my opinion of course, but going by what you said you'd be as well getting a flight out to Rome or Venice.
