I am 42 and have been overweight since i was about 6 years old. I have joined ww countless and i mean countless times. I have high bp and my body fat is way over what it should be.Two weeks ago, thanks to my dear daughter , i decided to have another go at the no count diet coz i cant do deprivation. I lost 4lbs in the first 5 days and another 4lbs in the next 9 days.8lbs in two weeks, suits me fine, I am really pleased with that and would be pleased with 1-2 lbs a week. I weigh myself at my sisters so i dont keep weighing myself. I can at last see a way out of this obesity and really recommend the no count by ww`s. I eat loads and i am really hoping that as i have started i will continue. I certainly dont feel deprived. i live on fish. i think the fish is what is keeping me on it and also filling me up.There is light at the end of the tunnel at last. will keep you posted.
p.s. i did the no count before and it didnt work, if you like fish then eat alot of it .

QT2006: Welcome! I've only been on here for about 10 days but it's very friendly and supportive. I too am clinically obese. It's not a nice word but think about all the positive things we are doing for our bodies by losing weight: lowering risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and improving fertility. It helps me to think about those things when I get all depressed about what I look like and how it's not worth the effort to change because ultimately, I want to live a long and healthy life.

About exercise, I am also too skint to join a gym. I have a pedometer that I wear all the time and try to rack up 12,000 steps each day. Also, I have a mini-trampoline that I jog on while watching telly. Finally, I go running 3 times a week outside. When I say running, I should qualify it by pointing out that I started by running 1 minute and walking 1 minute, and I did this 8 times. I have since gradually increasing the running interval each week so now I run for 4 minutes and walk for 1, and I do this 7 times. Next week, I'll be doing 5 minutes, and the week after 6 etc. I like the running as I feel fantastic after I've run longer than I thought I could but I started with the trampoline. I got mine for £20 from argos but I'm sure you could find it cheaper.

    Good luck! lisele

QT if the classes aren't your thing then SW body optimise (online only) is what i do. You have to pay for 3 months up front to start with which did sting a bit but i've found it really useful - especially the food diaries and the syn calculator. I had every intention of signing up for 3 months, cribbing all the info then cancelling it but i'm now planning to keep it on. And keep up with this board, I find it so inspiring and motivating - when you see how others are working towards their targets and not letting things get you down, it really makes you work at it.

Talll Girl - have you thought about getting a plug in coolbox for your car? They're about £20 and you still need icepacks but when you're in a field based job they really help you avoid all that crap thats out there. Means you could load it with muller lights and cottage and stuff, plus keeps your apples nice and cold!
  • Hi QT,
I'm 5'5" and when i rejoined WW i weighed in at 14st 10lbs ... i guess that makes me obese too :o but i don't feel it ... just feel fat  (not sure that sounds how it's meant too!)
What i want to say is we're all in the same boat here so don't worry about it (there that sounds a bit better).
WW have 2 plans now ... the points plan were you work out the number of points you are allowed each day depending on height, weight, activity etc (i'm on 22 as i'm the most inactive job going) and everything has a points value ... for example grilled chicken fillet is 2pts, packet of quavers is 2 points, apple is 0.5 points, gin is 1 point, wine is 1.5 points etc etc ... so you eat your limit & then thats it. I cope ok on that, i save spare points for weekends so i can have a few drinks or a takeaway ... or both if i've done any exercise to earn bonus points not that that happens often
They also have a 'no count' plan which is similar to SW i think. There is a list of free food to eat from (although you have to exercise portion control ... which is why i count points as i have no control :p ) and you get 21 points each week to spend on treats.
HTH a bit & good luck with whatever you choose to do ... everyone here is loads of help :D
BTW meetings cost £4.95 & £4.25 for concessions. There is also a voucher on the net to download for free registration (during august i think).
    Lou.
