So I've eaten about my own bodyweight in chocolate the last 2 days
I made the mistake of going to Lidls, and remembered that chocolate was one of the nice things at Lidl according to a list on here somewhere, I bought quite a bit. So that's a bit sh*te really.

QT 2006 - Welcome !! I'm relatively new here too but you'll find loads of help and understanding and a few laughs too!
I'm following the Slimming World class diet and find it really good as it's very easy for vegetarians but have also done Weightwatchers in the past and it worked too.
With regards to exercise - until you feel a bit more confident about swimming why not go walking -sounds boring I know but I usually take the dog (borrow one if you don't have one as they force you to keep going!) and put my ipod on with fast music and find that 30-45 mins pass really quickly and you'd be amazed at what a difference it will make once you get into a routine. Also, my local pool does women only evenings - might be less cringeworthy than a pool of adolescent boys??! You see all shapes and sizes there so there's no way you'll be the biggest (everyone's concern?)
Once you get into the right frame of mind you'll find that losing weight really isn't too hard - you have to be ready to committ to it though as it's a bit like smoking if you don't want to change you won't be able to. I'm sure loads of others will be along shortly to give you advice -
Take care
Rachel
PS Don't let the obese thing get you down - it's justs word and you can do something about. Also isn't the average size for women in the UK a 16?0 -
Well, I've had quite a bad week. Made a recipe that I thought was free but mistook one ingredient for another, and it turned out to not be free - eek - and then I had a doughnut-and-biscuit binge yesterday. Am determined to get back on track today -5 full days before weigh in, but I do have a buffet to attend on Saturday....

Hey, I go swimming a couple of times a week, and the good news its it's really cheap! Find out where your local council swimming pools are, and ask for a monthly, six monthly or annual swim pass. You can use it at any of hte pools in that council's area and you don't have to pay anything after that until it expires. If you're a student it's even cheaper as take your NUS card and they give you junior rates. E.g (although I know I leave in a fairly cheap area in Wales) it only costs £7.85 for an adult monthly pass, but as I'm a student, it's only £2.75, and you can go as often as you like.
If you want to avoid kids, try the early morning or late night sessions (typically 7.15-8.30, or 9p.m-10p.m).
Try not to feel self-conscious, cos no-one's really looking at you, they're too busy worrying what they look like in their cossie (yes, I remember worrying when I was a size 10, now I'd kill for my old body back!)
I got a fitness dvd as well, cos you only pay for it once, and then it's free - Nell McAndrew's are good in my opinion (although bloody hard work!) - she runs marathons and stuff every year, so isn't some soap star who went anorexic for a bit so she could lose weight and sells exercise vids with ridiculous dance routines that don't work. Get it off ebay or play.com, etc though, cos they're always really expensive in the shops.
Oh, and good luck!0 -

QT:
Your post sounds sort of sad but determined. Hope you're ok - it won't be easy to change and lose weight but try not to dread the process too much!
Lots of advice and support is always available here so keep coming back. Well done for making a start (don't let the fat get you down)

lol..thanks for that JenIttels...I guess if I am being honest with myself I am a little low about it...but as I said because I am a bubbly character and my friends say that I look fine..I sort of let it go. Really my friends are afraid to be honest with me and tell me that I need to lose weight.. I am definetely determined though..its just finding the time to be all this into practice..
btw..cheers for the link rachel..will check it out0 -
Oh yes and what exactly does SW involve..do u go to meetings and classes together?? or is it just web help?
Thanks0 -
Either or both. I go to classes where it quite good fun - don't worry they don't shout your weight out or anything like that! Only you and the group leader lady know how much you are and what you targets are.
There's quite a good web site supporting the club too - works out how many syns things are, recipes, weight loss tracking etc
You could always do it on line and not go to class - still have to pay if you join though. I like going to the class and it's a bit of a club really and everyone is in the same boat whether they have 5st to lose or a couple of lbs.
You have red days or green days - it explains it on the website and it's really flexible - the only diet where I have never been hungry as there are lots of "free" foods that you can eat as much as you want to without counting/weighing etc.
WW is quite good too but I think it's a bit more involved and everything should be counted in the points system.0
