welcome Eels100,
I too have a LOT to loose and although I dont kpost all that much on here I do read every day. I am 5ft8in and weight 16st08lb (thats after a 1st loss!) and have another 5st odd to go before I am considered healthy. I am determined to do it properly this time and am following Weight Watchers, but loads of people here are following different plans and there is no need to feel you ought to follow anything specific, whatever feels right for you. I tend to take a bit of advice from all the plans to be honest, all knowledge helps.
If you need a boost every now and then I'm normally online.
Good luck,
Al.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
i too am looking to lose weight 4st by january, as I am going to try for my first child with my boyfriend, so as they say the heat is on!! I really need to cut out chocolate, its my demon food...
But seriously I am ready to have a baby, but I just need to get my body ready!!0 -
Hi all,
Some of you may know that I work away from home quite a lot and this week it's Brazil. It's flipping boiling even though it's their winter now and I've found that it's nigh on impossible to eat SW style here! I'm really glad that I brought (don't laugh!) Ryvitas, HiFi bars, cup-a-soups and Laughing Cow cheeses.
I'm not even sure what some of the food is let alone what Syns etc it contains! Have been to the gym in the hotel twice (1 hr each time) and will try to go again tonight. I'm coming home tomorrow - a lovely 12 hr flight with typical airline food - yet another challenge. I'm seriously thinking about jacking it in and becoming a binman!
Tonight was supposed to be my first weigh in after rejoining SW and of course I'm stuck on the other side of the world with boiled pigs dangly bits (really!) and plenty of other weird unknowns - looked up the Syns for that, surprisingly they weren't in the book!!
Anyway, I'll soldier on and nibble on a Ryvita (fascinating isn't it!)
Cheers for now

well decision made for me as I didn't get babies to bed in time and couldn't get to WW in time, started at 7, good 10 mins drive, so on here instead. I'm pretty sure that I lost as well, typical eh! Mayebe I'll try to weigh at Boots in the morning, so that I can keep on track. I really wanted to know though as it's my birthday this Fri and wanted to know if I could go crazy. If i'd lost weight i would have had an extra special treat if I had not then I would have known my limits. Never mind, need to focus and not get annoyed about not knowing and try not to obsess about it, so that I don't wind me and OH up.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -

If there is only one piece of advice I could give you, its to try and get yourself fit before the birth. Labour is called labour for a reason, its tiring and you need all your reserves. I had 3 babies in 2 and a half years and being overweight to start with certainly made my life more difficult. If I had the chance to start over I'd really work hard to get fit.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
JenIttels Losing 2 stone in five months is excellent, don't belittle your achievement. You could lose another 2 by the end of the year and you'd have made a huge impact on your quality of life. Well done :T
Eels100 Welcome to the board. You'll get lots of motivational support on here (and will no doubt dish some out as well). Forget about the fact you've not stuck to a diet before, that's in the past - look to the future!
Don't try to cut down too far on the amount of food you eat - it will only lead to feelings of deprivation, a sure fire diet killer! Concentrate on eating healthy food, not just salad veg and fruit either. You can eat lots of pasta and potatoes, just be careful what you load them with. For instance you can make a lovely filling spag bol by making your own sauce with a tin of tomatoes, red kidney beans, onion, garlic & mushrooms - poured over a plate FULL of boiled pasta, you have a meal which is almost fat-free. Jacket potatoes are as quick to have ready as calling for a takeaway, and again, they're healthy and fat-free (fill with cottage cheese, baked beans or even some left-over spag.bol).
Tallgirl Forget the doughnut, on it's own it won't break your diet. Learn from the experience - I only ever buy fruitcake, cos I can't stand it :rotfl:
Lisele You're right, it's not how fast you run that matters, it's the fact that you're doing more than you've done in the past. Well done, you're on to a winner :T
Fritha I'm with you on the chocolate front. Daren't have the real thing for fear of eating a mountain of it, but I love a mug of Options before bed, yum! You need to be drinking at least 2 litres a day (3 when it's hot or if you're exercising a lot).
(edited to say 'not 2 litres of chocolate Options lol')
rachelmk I'm so sorry you're stuck in boring old Brazil, it must be awful
However, good news - boiled pigs dangly bits are free on original :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Woo-hoo! Weigh in tonight and I lost 4lbs! Slimmer of the week, and hit my 1 stone target!
Really, pleased!
Fritha and Consultant31 - I'm with you on the chocolate Options they are great when you have a "fancy" for something chocolately.

Whoops, sorry, did I forget to weigh in on here! Welll I lost 2lbs, was hoping it might be a bit more with it only being week one, but now I have had time to think about it I am pleased enough.April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110

well, we mght be having a few downers this week, but it looks like everyone is doing really well at the weigh ins - well done everyone!
can't find boiled pigs dangly bits on the recipes on the body optimise website - maybe you could do an eating out in brazil feature for them!
Feeling virtuous today as have made up for a bad day yesterday, caused by - would you believe it - orange juice. I've been drinking tomato juice which is 1 syn for a glass and foolishly, foolishly thought that oj would be the same. It's not the blowing syns that upsets me, its the thought that i could have had a crunchie or something for the same hit!
btw, how important is it to get your HEs in? I'm finding myself eating babybels and toast before bed to bring up the total, which isn't necessarily the best thing to do.0 -
Wow! So many posts to catch up on in one day, it's just as well my yoga class has left me feeling energised!
Welcome Eels100 and emszii to the thread. The best advice I can give you is to stick with this thread - It makes it so much easier to stick to whatever plan you are following. BTW I'm also trying to lose weight to try for another baby - I can't recommend carrying a baby when you're already 4 stone overweight - by the time DS was born I was over 17st (I had been that before I began losing weight in 2002 and never wanted to be there again!)
JenIttels - there's nothing wrong with taking the scenic route to weighloss. People learn by their mistakes - how are you supposed to learn if you don't make any at all. Besides, I bet most of the people on the RC success stories who lost weight really put everything else aside in order to lose weight - do you realistically think you can put aside 1 hour plus every day to exercise?
Well done Monkeylugs, Minerva and Consultant31 on such great losses ... keep it up!
Rachelmk - Don't know if you'll get this on time for your flight home but a friend of mine always pre orders the vegan meals on a flight - she says they're much easier on your tummy and have much less hidden fat. - Well done on going to Brazil so well prepared - that's fantastic:TGoal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0
