  • I maintained last night, which I was actually quite grateful for, having had a naughty week on both food and drink. Have to find some more gym motivation, it always seems to be the thing that gives if my schedule gets busy (which it tends to do working full time and having 2 small children!!). I have let my planning go a bit in the last 2 weeks, stopped online shopping and given in to late night tv instead of going to bed and then having energy for the gym (I blame Celebrity Love Island!!). I need the boot up the bum too!
Right, have to get on, sort some online shopping out and get back on track. Well done to everyone who had good results this week, and everyone who is on a plan one way or another to make their weight healthier for themselves - it's all good (as Shane from Love Island would say ..........:D ).

I'm the same KPC, but I figure that if I am "allowed" to eat them, why miss out on them?! They're to make sure you get enough fibre, I think....

If you are struggling to fit them in, why not do it stealth-like, and add measured meat amounts to your green days, or measured carbs to your red? Or 1tbsp of olive-oil is a B extra too, so if you are using fry light on a particular day, you could sub it for olive oil instead

Alternatively, 1 packet of Ryvita Mini's is like a bag of crisps, or a nice hi-fi bar?

I struggle with my A choice, I usually end up having a glass of milk with my evening meal.

Wish i had your HEs problem. Mine go in breakfast (shreddies and milk), in coffee (milk), in toast (as a snack!), in supper (ryvitas and cheese and a mouthful of OH's red wine :D), in pasta sauces (using cheesey triangles).

I like your ideas as well monkey

PS clearly i don't have all of these everyday but you catch my drift.

PPS Isn't it cheeky who looks after the a*** kicking boot? :p

Afternoon all - just taking a break from decorating and thought I'd catch up.

Suggs - I don't think you need a kick up the bum - you may have gained a pound but you've been on holiday and you weigh a pound less than when you went, which is an achievement. Sounds like you're on track to lose it by going to the gym anyway, so well done for that too.

MrsYatesy - always remember its better to maintain than to gain! You sound focussed on what you need to do, so I'm sure you'll have a good result next week. Have some flexible syns for your birthday tomorrow, or whatever you do on your plan(!) and have a good day.

Katiepoppycat - Healthy Extras are important, and if you're hungry before you go to bed and you haven't had your HEs there's nothing wrong with eating them then. It might be worthwhile reading all the HEs you can have, in your SW book, as lots of people get stuck in a rut by using them for bread and cheese, but there are loads of other things you could have instead, such as dried apricots, nuts, or as monkeylugs suggested, you could treat yourself by cooking something in olive oil or using it as a salad dressing. Have you seen the recipe for rice pudding? It's just one HE(A) on a green day, and is great comfort food if you like that kind of thing.

Consultant31 - well done again! :T Maybe you should post your food diary for us all to follow! :rotfl:

Rachelmk - well done for resisting the pig's dangly bits, even though they are free on red! :rotfl: I hope you get back to the UK without too many holdups.

Minerva - 4 lbs, that's excellent, and well done for getting to your 1 stone target too. :T

JenIttels - I know how you feel when you read about people losing huge amounts in a short time - it's depressing, but don't get downhearted, you've done really well, and comfort yourself with the thought that if you lose weight quickly you can regain it quickly, whereas taking the scenic route means you are re-educating your eating habits for the long-term. :A

If you've posted a weight loss and I haven't mentioned it - well done :T

Must get back to work - back later!

Delly Yoga sounds good. Is it easy to follow and pick up?

JenIttles - I have to admit, I love yoga - I took it up as a way of strengthening my stomach muscles to support my back better (I have a lower back injury) and found it benefitted me in so many ways. I would highly recommend it to anyone. My class isn't full of skinny bendy people, my yoga instructor is what my dad would call "a grand big girl!" so I've always felt comfortable in her class. I actually find that I can do some of the postures better than others because I have more balance because of my weight and it tones and strengthens muscles I never knew existed.

One piece of advice though is to make sure that your yoga teacher is fully qualified and insured (my instructor's liability insurance is a value of over £1m!). There are classes for all levels. I've been following it now for about 3 years on and off and have moved from beginners to mixed and am now on progressive! And I'm 5 stone overweight and can't touch my toes without bending my knees!

Well done Minerva, what a result :T

Katiepoppycat If you're following SW then it's vital that you get your HEs. They are carefully worked out to give you everything you need in the way of vitamins, minerals and fibre. That's why it's important to swap and change them as often as possible - to ensure you get a good variety of the essential vits and mins etc. If you look through your food optimising book again, you may be surprised at how many things there are to choose from. It's easier to get them down you if you incorporate them into a meal (ie. having extra Bs by sprinkling a portion of nuts or seeds over your salad perhaps). A lovely way to use up your As is to have a milky drink before bedtime. Options made with milk tastes very decadent ;)

Dellybelly Thanks for the recipes. Can anyone tell me an easy way to find the recipe pages, it always takes me ages (I've said before, I'm a bit dense!)

JenIttels Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try the new Shape yogurts, I love mousse. Does anyone make their own mousse with sugar-free jellies and vlf natural fromage frais - they're only 2 syns for the whole lot and they're yummy! Have you tried having something free for your breakfast? For instance on red you could have bacon, egg, mushrooms & tomatoes as a totally HE-free meal which would leave you with HEs for later in the day. I often have plain couscous with fruit & yogurt mixed in for breakfast on green. I really enjoy it and it's very filling and leaves the HEs for later on.

Eels100 I think our weigh-in days vary, but the main thing is that you weigh just once a week, at the same time of day and wearing roughly the same clothes. That way you get a good guide to how you're doing.
I would like to remind everyone though, that the scales can lie (or at least mislead us) so use your tape measure as well. It often seems that you're maintaining weight but, in fact, the inches are reducing.

LoisLane You're dead right about the quick losses leading to even quicker gains - it happens all the time. Nice and easy does it every time (as the song says!).
I would post my food diary if anyone really wanted it, but to be honest I just follow the plan and try and walk as much as possible. Sometimes I lose really well and sometimes I don't for no reason I can fathom. You just have to keep plugging away. This years holiday was my 'lightbulb' moment - the first time I committed to the plan whilst away from home. Not so much so that I'd lose during the week, but to stop me grinding to a halt for weeks and weeks. It took me about 6 months to get back on track after Christmas and it was depressing me to think I'd have that struggle again. This way has been so easy and I didn't give up ALL treats, just ate sensibly.

Happy Birthday Jenpoptab have a lovely day tomorrow :bdaycake:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
