If it was minced etc, it's probably got some kind of extras mixed in to bulk it out, so the syns wouldn't work out the same.

Welcome TallGirl and Gilly, you've both made a positive step by posting on the forum - stick with us and we'll help keep you motivated.:j
Honey, I'm glad you had a good weekend and managed to get back on the wagon on Sunday. I agree with Consultant31. There's something better on the way for you, you just don't know what it is yet.
Well done Jen and Moira on getting into the next size down and into smaller clothes. I have a wardrobe full of clothes that I used to fit but they're so out of date I'd never dream of wearing them. The only reason why I'm keeping them is so that I can remind my OH of how sexy I was when we first met!:p
My weekend hasn't been great. I went to a friend's housewarming party and got stuck by the snacks. I'd have been better off drinking cos I must have consumed twice the amount of calories in crisps and junk than I would have drinking my usual. (and I'd have been more aware of what I was eating too!). Must try and stay away from flexible syns!
By the way, if you're planning to freeze dairy milk caramel to stop yourself from eating it, don't bother. I froze one that I'd bought last week and ate it last night whilst I was doing the ironing- it just lasted a wee bit longer
Other than that, I did have a fairly good week but I won't be surprised if I've maintained. I'll just have to make sure I do better in the week ahead:rotfl: I've just remembered I'm going out for a meal with my friends on Friday night. I've phoned ahead and got a menu faxed to me and I've decided on a red day. ... Consultant31 maybe you could help me syn etc this meal....
starters - crab and salmon salad (not sure what the dressing will be)
Main - 8oz sirloin steak with pepper sauce - don't panic:eek: I'm going to ask for the sauce on the side. served with seasonal veg and baby boiled potatoes
dessert - fresh fruit salad with vanilla cream (whatever that is!)
It seemed like good choices to me, but what do you guys think!Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Hi Tallgirl - welcome to the thread and to the 2 pound weight loss club. I'm just about to start updating it for this week, so I'll add your name. If you can weigh yourself on Mondays and post your results on here, I'll record it in the chart each week.
I don't mind converting from kg to lbs if you prefer metric. I'm quite comfortable with metric weights when it comes to buying fruit and veg, measuring ingredients etc, but for some reason, when it comes to weight loss, I think about it in pounds and stones. I heard someone on the radio saying that they were surprised that new babies aren't measured in kilos by now, and I laughed, because my daughter is in her late twenties, and when she was born they recorded her weight in kilos, and then converted it to pounds for the benefit of family and friends - because people just can't imagine how big a 4kg baby would be!
I suppose the day will come when slimming clubs will start recording weight in kilos - that will cause some consternation!
6'2 - that's very tall! I'm just under 6' myself, so I can imagine the problems you have finding clothes that are long enough. It is getting easier, with some shops introducing a tall range, but it annoys me when you think how many places offer petite ranges, but don't think about people who are tall.
What's your strategy for losing weight?

Evening all! lots of chatter in only one day. Lois my 2lb chart should read 1lb weight loss and 9lb since I started with the 2lb club.
I started eating less in June and am now 2lb under a stone lighter.
I do not belong to any diet club, just my own will power and reporting on here each week. Best wishes...If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Hi Julie - if you're still around, I'm confused!! Please can you clarify your weight loss for me? 2lb under a stone is 12lb, but you say you've lost 9lb plus 1lb this week, total 10lbs?
Thanks, LLStart BMI - 38.7 Current BMI - 31.2 Target BMI - 26.30 -
Hi folks - just to let you know I haven't forgotten to do the update, I'm going to post the spreadsheet tomorrow.

Good Morning Lois, sorry to confuse you! I said when I stasted to loose weight at the beginning of June I was 12 stone. Now at the begining of August I am 11 stone.2lb so have lost 12lb so far.
BUT
I did not join the 2lb club until later.....
This week I managed to loose 1lb Soooo your chart will read a total of 9lb loss
Your chart is great! I have not joined any clubs, so it is a great insentive to loose weight-reporting it for all to see. Everyone in it together and so much advice! Best Wishes...... JulieIf winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I agree with Julie on this and am considering that when my current countdown with slimming world ends (October) that I will stop going and just use this site as an incentive and to record my weight losses. There is tonnes of advice and support on this site which is fantastic. Additionally my consultant is leaving the group in october, although they hope to get someone new, so it seems like a good time to finish. The added plus is that I can then save the £4.25 a week in a jar to spend on clothes when I get to target.:T
Hope everyone has a good day today - weigh in for me tonight so I am gonna try to be angelic today and not have too much - normally difficult on a Tuesday as I go shopping and my little one and I normally have lunch out as a treat for doing such a horrible task :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for letting me join your club, I will do my best to work in pounds and it seems I am not the only one getting them confused. So there is 14 to a stone...well I need to loose 17 then. Going on a short break to Spain with my company in 2 weeks it is only 4 days but we are staying at their huge villa so it should be nice. Also next week I have to spend 3 days at headoffice so more hotels and eating out.
Last time I went on a diet I just cut out biscuits, larger (drink white wine in moderations) nuts and crips which is my biggest downfall. This time I am going to go the the gym more often went 3 hours last night and again on Wedensday but then next week and the week after I am away so much I know I won't feel like going.
Have any of you got any suggestions how to avoid being tempted by food when eating out. I stay in the same hotel chain and know the menu inside out. For breakfast I usually have the cooked option but only order poached egg on toast, then have yoghurt and fresh fruit which I assume is OK. For dinner I sometimes have two starters instead of a main course and I do try to order rice or jacket potato instead of chips. Puddings are not a problem as I do not really like them taste artificial to me so that is lucky really unless I get taken out somewhere nice and then it is hard to resist.
Welll enough about me I shall look forward to getting to know you all better and I will weigh myself on Monday before I set of to my headoffice.Save £12k in 25 No 49

good morning everyone
I weigh tomorrow and feel positive again, I am hoping to be just off 11 stone or 11 stone exactly tomorrow.
Off to Cambridge to swim in one of the outdoor pools today with my 2 girls, that should be interesting, especially as my 15 month old is having a right old tantrum today. I had a choice of new swimming costumes to put on, however I'm playing it safe with my black one from last year, as I know I feel comfortable in it. I'll save the others for holiday as hopefully I'll be in my ideal BMI range by then and they will hopefully look ok on me. I couldn't resist them as they were such bargains at £1 per item.
Anyway have a good day.
