Hi Julie,
My staple weekly shop items are:
Salmon fillets (bag of 8/10 fillets is £9.99 at tesco today) to grill and serve cold with salad or warm with steamed veg
Loads of fruit and veg
Vanilla Muller lights - to eat with raspberries or defrosted summer fruits in it
Yeo valley fat free yoghurt to have on my cereal with summer fruits for breakfast
Delightful Choc cake bars (pack of 6) from Mr Kipling (low fat treat)
Diced chicken to put in a veg & chicken casserole
Green seedless Grapes to freeze and eat as snacks through the day
Diet coke
Ryvita crispbreads & Ryvita minis
Sundried raisins
It seems to keep me happy, I just need to have all alcohol removed from the planet and I would be a size 6:rotfl:
Misguided maybe, but never really bad!! :A0 -
Hello Mrs Yatesy
Yes your shopping list does sound same as mine - so thats ok!
We have just finnished x2 chickens. I could not buy the samon though! It would nearly kill me... I have a strong reaction to all fish. Last time (few years ago) I put a bit on my lips to see if it was to hot for a toddler and had to fight to not pass out... next time I might not be so lucky...
Diet coke is the other thing I would not buy on your list-but we are all diffrent! I drink coffee with no sugar x2 with breakfast. then cold tap water all day and maybe a glass of white wine in the evening.
Thank you for your reply.... Best Wishes...If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
Hi everybody, am back from the hols and it's taken me half the afternoon to catch up on all the posts I've missed.
TigerLily You really shouldn't need to go below 1500 cals a day to lose weight. Less than that and you could be losing lean muscle tissue which will result in your metabolism being slower and thus less effective at burning calories - a real vicious circle.
Lois The thing about HEs being around 6 syns is a good rule of thumb but do remember that HEBs are mostly for getting enough fibre into you, and of course, the HEAs are calcium. There are always going to be people who think they'll skip the All Bran and have Sugar Frosties (or whatever) if they start to think of HEs as syns (does that make sense?).
Honey I'm so sorry to hear about your house! Don't go raiding the biscuit tin - you'll be gutted next weigh-day! I'm a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason" credo and I'm sure that in a few months time, you'll be really glad this happened 'cos something better will come along.
Sankey I understand your aversion to the word syns being used in relation to food, but as far as SW is concerned, it is a shortening of the word "synergy", the magical thing that happens when we follow the plan 100% and add on some Body Magic. Give it a try, it really, really works.
Jen & Delly Well done to both of you, you should be very proud of yourselves. Well done to all the other 'losers' this week, and to anyone who's put a bit on (or even more than a bit) that is in the past - tomorrow is the start of your next successful week - go to it!!
Suggs Your holiday sounds wonderful and your GF is a very lucky lady. Of course you must realise by now that saying those 3 little words is what has made the weight fall off you, so I hope you follow it up and say them to her regularly from now on!
Well, I don't want to brag but I can't keep it to myself, I lost 2½lbs whilst on holiday. It's a first for me 'cos in the past I've always said "I'm on holiday, I'll have that and that and that and get the weight off afterwards". Of course, it's not that easy to get your head back in gear and sometimes that holiday (or at least the holiday-type eating) goes on for weeks, if not months. This time I was determined to enjoy my holiday like a 'normal' person and eat when I was hungry and not just because it's there. I'm really chuffed and impressed with myself and want to rush out and tell everyone how easy it is. You'll have to pardon me if I sound like an evangelist :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
julie_d wrote:Hello again! I have been to Tesco's for the weeks shopping...
For snacks I bought;-Sultanas, muller light, Rivita minis and Harvist Cheweee
bars. I could not find prizels
I also bought some weight watcher meals. Plain meat as in pork joint for rotisserie and steak for healthy living grill to go with vegetables from the steamer. Stayed well clear of all the processed dinners with extra calories.
Comsultant-what do you think! Please!
Everyone-what was on your shopping list? idea's welcome!
Once again bought stacks of fruit and veg. Semi-milk, wholemeal bread.the list goes on...
Ooh sorry Julie, missed this post. I'm not a big fan of the WW meals, they're not big enough to satisfy my appetite, and they do seem to have quite a high fat or sugar levels (some of them anyway). It's much cheaper (and you get more to eat) if you make your own meals. Things like jacket potatoes with various fillings (free on green). I make my own coleslaw and potato salad for a fraction of the shop price and I like them better. For snacks I eat loads of summer fruit and MullerLights (not so easy in the winter cos I'm not crazy about apples and oranges). The Ryvita Minis are very nice and they go well crumbled over a salad like croutons, yummy in fact! If I want something sweeter I tend to go for a chocolate Options (I like the caramel one) and sometimes have 2 in a big mug to keep me going for a while - lovely!
You seem to have a well planned shopping list, don't worry too much. Make the most of free food, drink lots of water and watch the weight come off :TI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Welcome back consultant - and well done!! Glad you enjoyed your break too
Not long home ourselves - had a relaxing 2 days, really enjoyed it. BBQ last night so ok food wise - the wine wasnt so ok, but it was medicinal and I feel much better now :rotfl: I'll probably regret it at weigh in tomorrow but hey, I had a !!!!!! week and I deserved it - even if I do say so myself :rotfl:0 -
Well done C31 - I think you should be shouting that from the rooftops!!
Welcome back!Misguided maybe, but never really bad!! :A0 -
Hi all
Welcome back Cons31 well done on loosing weight on your hols - I would be shouting from the rooftops too if I were you.
Honey - Glad you had a good weekend and although it doesn't make the problems go away you can now look at them refreshed. I am sure you wont have done that much damage to your weight loss, and if so, hey its only an extra week to get to your target.
I have had a good weekend and have done loads of walking and exercise as the weather has been so good here. Went to a steam fair yesterday and walked around for about 2.5 hours, then did a keep fit dvd at night, and today walked along the beach for 2 hours and then did another keep fit dvd tonight - this is in addition to all my normal running around after a 2 year old lol.
Had really good meals this week as I didn't plan anymore than one day ahead but had lots of good low syn and free foods in the freezer/fridge and cupboard so had lots of options. I think maybe planning a week in advance is too rigid for me and just having a good stock in the freezer to plan the next days meals seems to work a bit better - also I can see what the weather should be up to which helps me as I can bear to eat when its hot.
Anyway I am gonna give this a try til I go on my hols and see how I get on - you never know a new approach may help.
Hope everyone else has had a good weekend0 -
Hi all
Welcome back Cons31, and well done :T Losing weight on holiday is real achievement, and you deserve to brag - in fact you deserve a medal!
Just out of interest - would you have worked out the syn value for Delly's breaded chicken the way I did?
Welcome back to Honey too, glad you enjoyed your weekend, and hopefully it won't have done too much damage when you get on the scales tomorrow, but we all deserve to fall off the wagon now and then, particularly when life is throwing rocks. The trick is to get back on again, which I think you will.
Hi Monkeylugs and welcome. Let me know if you'd like to join in the 2 pound weight loss club - there's more information if you want it by going to the first post, then clicking on the link.
Julie - well done for your one pound loss - I'll try and get the weight loss chart right this week. Just to make sure, can you let me know what your total weight loss is please?
There are certain things that I always have on my shopping list - chicken breasts, salmon fillets, quorn mince, quorn sausages, muller light, fresh fruit and veg (loads), pasta, wafer thin ham, laughing cow extra light, ryvita and ryvita minis. If I need something to snack on I usually have a piece of fruit or a muller light. The ham is good for nibbling on red days if you're doing SW, and sometimes I've made omelettes for a late night snack, as they're free food on red and green days and quick to make. If you save a HE(A) you could make cheese dip (recipe on lose weight recipes thread) and eat it with sliced apple, cucumber, Minis, and celery.
Have a good week everyone!

Yes I think it's fine to work it out that way, always provided it was a 'real' piece of chicken inside the breadcrumbs and not one of those minced and reformed things. If it was minced etc, it's probably got some kind of extras mixed in to bulk it out, so the syns wouldn't work out the same.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
