    Hi all :)

I'm watching Sport Relief on the TV as I type, and some of the films that have been shown about children in India and Ethiopa are heartrending. It made me think of the thought for the day that I posted earlier this week about childhood beliefs - how many of us were told to clear our plates because of the starving children in Africa? That kind of brainwashing is pointless! Food that you leave isn't going to help anyone, it goes in the bin, but not eating more than we need could mean less obesity in the Western world, and if we are buying less food, we could help the needy with the money we save.

Gordon Ramsay suggested on Sport Relief that instead of ordering a takeaway pizza, make a sandwich and send the money you save to Sport Relief - maybe we could all do something similar, by working out how much we save by not spending money on things we don't eat any more, whether that's takeaways, chocolate, crisps, alcohol, sweets, biscuits, or cakes. Other lifestyle changes that we make to improve our health and fitness, such as walking to work instead of driving, making your own lunch instead of buying it, save small amounts of money as well as increasing our fitness or helping us to lose weight.

Here we are on the 'money saving' website, wanting to lose weight, so it just seems appropriate in my opinion. I know for many people saving money means being able to spend it on something else, so I'm not suggesting anyone gives money to charity if they can't afford it, but very small amounts of money can make such a big difference in countries that have so little to start with.

    Just a thought...

    HI Jujitsu

They do SW on line, I go to a class and use the website as an extra motivator in between, you can check out syn values and plot your weight etc. If you can't get to a class they have a completely online setup called Body Optimise, I haven't used it so I can't comment but SW eating plan is wonderful and it works:j

Hi jujitsu - yes they do, and I think someone else that posts on here is doing SW on line, but I can't remember who!

Heres a link to their website.

You can also get lots of help, support and information from this thread, so feel free to post any questions.

I actually approached that machine in Boots yesterdsay, but it was broken, I didnt know whether to laugh or cry!

So I went down the gym instead and tried again this morning, another 3lb lost in nine days this time, makes the running total 3st 9lb since Feb  :j

    Now how does one celebrate???

Hi Suggs - well done for losing another 3lbs! Isn't it funny how it's almost an accepted part of life that celebrating equates to going down the pub for a few pints, so when the aim is to lose weight, that's the last thing you want to do. There were a couple of suggestions - a syn free curry, a day off the gym, but I'd be interested to know how you did decide to celebrate?

What do other people do to celebrate their successes?

It's important to remember what an achievement losing weight is, and what gets praised gets repeated...

I celebrated losing half a stone by having a hot stone massage. It was lovely!

DH had bought it for my birthday and I had been saving it up as a treat.

Next half stone may be a facial or manicure.

I thought that celebrating by doing something for me will improve my self esteem and make me look and feel better!

Lois and Punky I too was told to eat up. I have very sad childhood memories of it taking me an hour to eat a bacon roll, or a bowl of tomato soup. What a nerve - a few years later my mum became anorexic and bullemic. It's no wonder I went the other way and comfort eat! Still I'm on the right track now - and this time I enjoy the classes, so more likely to go when I eventually reach target.

Honey28 I know others have replied about your midweek weigh in, and C31 gave a very good answer - I was thinking of something my new SWC says - and that is if you do something new eg change eating habbit, do extra exercise, that can sometimes cause a maintain while your body adjusts, and that you'll see the benefits doubled the week after. Could just be your body adjusting to all that extra water you're drinking.

Dellybelly :j on getting into those PP trousers. I remember that feeling three years ago, and then putting the weight back on. By following your diet plan that's not going to happen to you, so a big pat on the back to you.

As for me, my 100% week is going ok. I have used 15 syns a couple of days but written everything down. We are off to MIL for dinner tonight - normally a nightmare for me, as only bread (white) and fish for me, so planned for a green day, made a huge bowl of pasta and a plate of SW wedges to take. (Will have the fish as my HEB). I'm putting together a dessert for me too, which should only be one or two syns! Can't wait. Going on a picnic to the beach in a minute and made a nice big salad, and packed ten ton of fruit.
I know I can have a stick of candyfloss or a fruit pastille lolly while we are there for very low syns.
And big news for me - yesterday I bought a pair of trousers, a jacket and a skirt in a size smaller - and they fit really well.:j :j :j

Hi, I just suddenly wondered how many sins you have a day, as your weight goes down you need to reduce it. It maybe that your syns are going slightly over for you personally :-))

It ranges between 5 and 10. I rarely use 15, in fact I rarely use 10.

Would have thought that was ok. I tend to keep under five most days, but I'm at target. Just hang in there. It's frustrating but I have this theory that your body remembers past good and bad behaviours. It might be that your body is hanging on for a bit to see if you blow it! I did this once and it took me weeks to get back. Be strong. If you continue then it will go down, I waited three weeks for it to drop this time. You're doing everything right and it will work.

I remeber my consultant saying that Greens can cause you to retain fluid sometimes, I do all greens, so obviously your body gets used to it after a while. Good luck.
