Lois, I do this with the cereal too, I leave off the additions and add a bit extra cereal - 28g looks like nothing in the bottom of a bowl. I add on about 4 syns though for my extra cereal. Maybe I am diddling myself!0

Hi Honey - I've been known to use both HE(b)s to have a double helping of cereal!
LLStart BMI - 38.7 Current BMI - 31.2 Target BMI - 26.30 -
Hi Lois, I had a fritata - slice the sweet potato really thinly and bake in the oven for a bit, then dry fry some lean mince and add two leeks and a finely chopped yellow pepper. when they're done, add a bit of cayenne peppera and some chicves, beat 4 eggs and pour over, then put the sweet potato slices on top. Cook on the hob for a bit then stick under the grill till done. OH had no idea there were so many veggies in it! and if you're careful wit hthe sweet potatoes, not many syns on red
Got it out of JS magazine - found another nice one too . . . half some cherry toms and put in a baking dish and top with a piece of smoked cod loin. Thinly slice some spuds over the top, season and spray with fry light. I use half a HEA( ie i eat 1 babybel and have 14g parmesan) in some parmesan on the top if you like and bake till potatoes are crispy and fish looks done. I usually have this on green with the fish as a HEB as there aren't enough potatoes to warrant a HEB on red.0 -
Lois_Lane wrote:I'd forgotten how much you can eat with SW - I had a baked potato and a WHOLE tin of baked bins for lunch! (I was only having half a tin on RC.) I even pushed the boat out and had a HE(a) worth of grated cheese with it.
I need to work out my HEs for breakfast though - OH makes porridge for us both using a cup of oats, a cup of skimmed milk, plus water, so there are probably too many oats for a HE(b) and not enough milk for a HE(a)! I must admit to cheating a bit on HEs for cereals, because most of them are 28g plus a scanbran, or a Ryvita, which is far too fiddly for my liking. I usually have 42g of cereal and forget the additions! (Consultant31 looks disapproving.)
Hi KPC - what did you have with your sweet potatoes? I had sweet potatoes tonight, with smoked haddock, and initially I thought I might count the potato as a HE, but realised it wasn't listed, so I decided to make today a green day and had the haddock as a HE.
Consultant, I'm visualising - it's slinky, it's sexy, and it's gonna knock em all dead! (and then I woke up)

Aw Lois, it need not always be a dream! :rotfl: :rotfl:
SW's great isn't it - I love being able to stuff my face and still lose weight - can't understand why anyone goes to other slimming plans! Your jacket poato, beans and cheese sound delicious - might even have the same for lunch today, yum!
I can understand why you have extra porridge, cos I had some this morning and 28gms is lost in the bottom of the dish. I let mine swell for a while though in water, then cook it and mix in a Mullerlight - it was quite filling.
But, in the interest of science, I've tried to work it out so we can have extra oats and no Scan-bran/Ryvita, and I'm struggling. My maths was never good, but a Scan/Ryvita is 1½ syns and oats are 5½ syns for 28gms, so having 42gms oats you would need to add a couple of syns I think - Honey you are not far out, but I think 2 or 3 extra syns would do
The main point of HEBs is the fibre of course, so you could always have 28gms of oats + a crumbled Scan Bran/Ryvita made into porridge :A
KatiePC I love that one with the tomatoes, haddock and sliced potatoes, and have it often, but I shall certainly be trying the frittata with sweet potato, it sounds lovely.
Delly I wondered what F.U.B.A.R.ed meant too, and spent far too long trying to make rude words fit into a sentence :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi, ev1. How can I get going losing weight?
I made the mistake of going on one of those weighing machines on Wednesday and it scared me.
Here are my results:
Weight: 17st 8lb - 111.7Kg
Height: 5' 8.9" - 1.75m
B.M.I. 36.4
It says my ideal weight is between 9st 9lb and 12st 11lb
that means I have to lose between 5 and 8 stone
I dont think I eat a lot and I have started walking and riding my bike more

Thanks for the welcome.
Hi Sugggs. I will be using a tape measure. I am starting to get apple shape at the moment, so I need to see the inches start to go. I've got exercise equipment in the lounge, so I will need to use it for exercise now instead of just using it for putting things on. My mug of coffee is a perfect fit on the exercise bike speedo.
Moiracm, I am going to start off with healthy eating, small portions and exercise and then move to a diet plan if I need more mental ooomph. I think I might be tempted to over eat if I tell myself I am on a diet though, so I need to tell myself that I am going to eat healthily.
What is an RC diet?
Well done to all those losing weight.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Morning all
Hope all ok with you ladies and the other maleLong week for me, feeling tired, managed the gym and aquacise last night, though I felt really silly in the pool
Does anyone else have days when they just feel awkward?
Lois - I always thought it was Terrys Old Gits! So I apologise here and now. Best of luck with the Day 1 restart, 8th December somes do-able and think of the feeling you will have as you show off your new figure
moiracm - Hope the weighin goes ok for you today, I'll be watching youKnee is ok thanks, just the usual soreness, I go back to see the consultant (No not you Consultant
) on Monday evening to get the good or bad news. In a strange way I hope I have surgery, but then it would completely put the exercise aspect on stop for a few weeks.
Delly, Glad things are not too bad with you, of course I can be your fatherJust send me your Christmas list
Oddly enough at the rugby club I have a 'father' and a 'son' both not realted, which confuses everyone
MissMoneyPenny, Hopefully the 'tale of the tape' will help, remember you can always cycle and watch telly at the same time, I like to watch Deal or No Deal in the Gym, as you dont need the volume up to know whats happening. Pretty certain the RC diet is the Rosemary Conley Diet, but I am sure the ladies will know better.
Honey how was the aerobics, hopefully it went ok, and your more positive side will come forth and show an improvment
Eels One bad evening does not a disaster makeYou had a good thing with a friend and you enjoyed yourself, plus you might have managed to exercise with your OH afterwards
Right time for me to do some work, Have a good weekend one and all I'm playing rugby over Oxford way tomorrow.Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Oakdale don't worry about the maintain, is it your third week by any chance? Apart from the blip on Monday night, have you been 100% all week?
Hi - yes it was my third week. I had been 100% all week and even had 2 Red days (I lose quicker when I have more Red days, but don't enjoy them as much as Green).
I am looking for a few ideas and/or thoughts on a dilemma.
It is my OH's birthday Tuesday and I am going to cook dinner. I weigh in on Wednesday.
I want to do either a 3 course meal, or a Chinese style (all homecooked) 'buffet' for the two of us.
My dilemma is - do I weigh in Tuesday and then do whatever I fancy cooking even though it probably won't be very SW-friendly? Or, do I cook a SW dinner but it probably won't be as 'luxurious' as the non SW-friendly version?
If I am good and go down the SW route and weigh in as normal Wednesday, could you all throw some ideas at me please? Cost/difficulty of how to cook isn't a problem and I have good supermarkets where I live to get ingredients.
I will either do a Chinese 'spread' or a French style 3 course meal, or even some kind of Mexican 3 course meal. I'm happy to do Green or Red. I'm not a massive vegetable person - I'm more pulses and beans.
My OH's favourite meal is chilli, but I do that a lot so if I do Mexican would like to 'tart it up' a bit more than chilli.
Any ideas welcome - my mind seems to be a bit blank at the moment!!!!!0 -
Obesity and reducing obesity are many-faceted problems, but in essence, obesity is caused by salt sensitivity. All that is normally necessary to lose weight is to eat less salt/sodium, and, preferably, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, because the potassium these contain helps to displace excess sodium from the body.
Lose weight by eating less salt! Go on! - Try it!

Got another favour to ask you kind people.
Not being a huge rice orientated person I'm struggling to come up with a yummy chinese style rice dish...the last time i attempted egg fried rice SW style it was a bit of a disasterso a method to make that a triumph would be good (may also include bits like mushrooms, peas etc as well).
Think I'm going to cook a sweet and sour sauce and roast some veg to go with it unless anyone has some tried and tested other delicious ideas.
Thanks all. Hope you're all doing well.0
