  • Hello!
I'm off on my work travels again today - Brazil again (not nice, quite a scary area). I'm leaving at 4.30pm and won't get there until 5am tomorrow (their time).
This morning has been spent ironing and cleaning as OH wil be home alone with the dog and can create a mess in 5 mins let alone 5 days! At least it makes me feel better to leave it all clean and tidy even though it will probably be like a bombsite by the time I get back on Thursday.

Honey - good luck with all the sorting out - I wish I had the inclination to join you!
Loopy - all that exercise gives you my full permission to have a few cheeky drinks tonight ! Am very jealous!

Good luck to all this weekend - will report back in if I get a chance from abroad.
    Take care
    Rachel.

  • honey, three years ago I made a dirndl and dressed as a Tirolese girl, complete with red braided wig and all. It looked great with an apron made of glittery material!

Hello all, I hope your week has been fine. I have lost one pound, so I am reasonably happy. I've been walking a lot this week. Next week's going to be tough, I'm spending it with my mother who is convinced that I suffer from consumption and tries to stuff me accordingly.
It is true that, when you make a habit of reduced fat, sugar and portions, you find the old ways too much when you momentarily try them again. Which I find just great!
Thinking about what you have been saying on drinking, I will have to be careful. I tend to believe I drink enough, but actually I tend to drink coffee and tea over the day mostly, and besides I've realised I drink much less of it lately, so I'll have to keep an eye on my liquid income. The cranberry juice instead of coffee for breakfast is helping, and I enjoy it.
When I am back from holidays in a couple of weeks I'll start this season's Scottish country dance lessons, so that should help a lot too!

  • i'm having a Red weekend, and already I'm having carb withdrawal!! Just put a quorn mince, pepper, onion and tomato bake topped with cheese in the oven and I'm using my syns on a pitta bread. I'm doing mixed grill with salad for dinner, or I might use my B choices on some baked beans to go with the grill. (OH gets curly fries with his :( !)

I've got a load of leeks to use up and I thought of making a batch of leek and potato soup for the freezer for green days next week. I'm guessing sweat the chopped leeks in frylight, boil the potatoes in a little vegetable stock, blitz together with lots of seasoning (not over blitzing though so the potatoes don't go sticky!!) and then.....add a dollop of fromage frais??

Sounds great Eels... What time will it be ready ;)

Well done Madauri and safe travelling Rachel.

    I'm bored unpacking............

Ps - can I show my ignorance and ask what a dirndl is??

    Edit - googled it!

Happy unpacking honey! No idea what to suggest for fancy-dress ... I'm totally unimaginative! That is, of course, excepting my amazing ability to fantasize about soft, warm, doughy triple choc-chip cookies .... :o

Hope this trip's not as bad as you're fearing rachel. I seem to remember something about weight loss last time you went though ...?!

Have fun tonight loopy, it's really nice to let your hair down once in a while.

I had my blowout night yesterday, and was pretty tiddly after a large glass of red and my cantonese sweet and sour chicken ... mmmmm. But I had a nice lie in this morning (an extra 2 hours - didn't wake til half 8!) and then did 60 minutes of Davina. When you're doing daily DVDs they get a bit boring so I've ordered a nice cheap TaeBo one from Amazon, which I hope will contain some boxing moves because that's my absolute favourite part of Davina's DVD. I'm getting my hair trimmed this afternoon, so that should have me feeling great. Then a nice healthy dinner ... don't know what yet!

    Afternoon all

The weather was lovely this morning, beautiful sunshine, clear skies, just a hint of a breeze, so I decided that when I'd finished the bits and pieces I needed to do, I'd get my bike out and go for a ride - but guess what, now I've got time, it's pouring with rain! I've got a line full of washing out too.

Maybe I'll put a DVD on instead - I discovered an Elle McPherson one that I'd forgotten all about, or I might just be tempted to watch a classic movie ;) I could always do some crunches at the same time!

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Hi KPC - sorry, can't help with the lasagne query as I haven't made it myself, but I think its worth the risk, I find pasta dishes often improve with time.

p.s. I just checked out the recipe and it looks lovely, I've decided I'm going to do it myself next week. I can't see any reason why the finished dish wouldn't keep overnight.

Must have been around 2.30ish then Lois :D I had just come out of the changing rooms at the rugby club and promptly got soaked to the skin :o Still we won, although I do ache all over this morning!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend, Honey, I like the sound of your caramel squares, but not the unpacking, hope it all goes ok for you and yours. With regards to fancy dress ideas, I've no idea, as I tend to go in the shop and say "what fits"? Have to say that Madauri's suggestion sounds good :D Well done on your loss Madauri, hope you have a nice time with your mother, what stuffing does she use? pork&chesnut? sage&onion? :p Brazil again! Rachel wow you little jetsetter, think of the airmiles! Hoe do you pass the time on the plane? I rarely manage to sleep on the plane. Good Luck and safe journey. Oakdale let me know how your soup goes, after the success of the curry with my children, I am tempted to try some soups. Moiracm, well done on your loss, hope your feeling better and looking forward to noraml service next week :DEels100 Cookies eh? Chocolate chips, doughy melt in the mouth 'yummy' your making my mouth water just thinking about it :) I had abit of a blowout Friday as well, my children are here for the weekend, so I cooked Consultants Curry recipe and stir fry and ending up eating some bread and jam :( never mind back in the gym later and then that jacuzci :)

As its the start of the month, and 3 weeks till the children and I go on holiday, I wondered if anyone else looks at the start of the month as a new page in the book? I managed 13 gym sessions, 2 aquacise sessions (just started) and 3 rugby matches in September, so Im very happy, at the match yesterday, my children overheard spectators saying good things about me, which made me feel good :) My eldest is also my biggest critic, she played rugby for 5 years until she was 11, and she was impressed too! :D I think I am trying to say is that I know I am doing better in the gym, but its always nice to hear compliments when you least expect it. I know what jenpoptab meant when she got her compliment in the clothes shop a little while ago.

Anyways enough of me, hope you all have a good Sunday, I'm cooking dinner later :)
