Has anyone else noticed that they are less tolerant to certain foods after cutting them from their diet? I can't eat chocolate in large quantities anymore - it kills me. In fact anything sweet seems to have the same effect. Dont get me wrong I am not complaining :D just wondered was I the only one? Pity I wasnt having the same problem with wine :rotfl:

Hi Honey - yes, I've definitely become less tolerant to greasy foods. If I make the mistake of eating something that has been deep fried, all I can taste is the oil. And I used to have a very sweet tooth and crave sugary foods all the time, but now I can take them or leave them. Not weight loss related, but I've also cut right down on salt, I don't add it to food when I'm cooking or at the table, and I try to avoid foods that have a high salt content. The result is that I can taste the salt in foods that you wouldn't expect to be salty, like digestive biscuits and bran flakes.

    p.s. I appreciate a good wine more now! ;)

  • Hi all,
Went to SW WI a day early (but I did miss last week through being away with work).
Have lost 1lb. Can't decide whether I'm happy or disappointed - I guess it's not a gain but it's over 2 weeks. However, those 2 weeks did include 1 week in Japan and a weekend at mums.
In fact I think it's given me a bit of motivation to carry on - have probably been a bit slack with the rules lately, blaming travelling and lack of being at home for making up my own rules!
Will re-start the food diary tomorrow - but just as I think that it'll all get back to normal I find out that I am abroad again from Saturday night to Thursday morning. Time to pack the Ryvitas and Laughing cows! At least this hotel has a gym and there's absolutely nothing else to do after work (Sao Paulo in a dodgy area!).

Am off to Scotland tomorrow for the day but should be back in time for a homemade SW tea.

    Take care
    Rachel

PS will promise to try to go to gym on Friday and Saturday before I go! Please nag me if you sense I am wavering!!
  • Well done to Oakdale and Suggs for stupendously good weeks!

Whereabouts are you going in Scotland Rachel ..? Haggis anyone? <G>

I've had a good day. Had to wear a belt with my trousers today because where they're meant to be loose, they're slipping beneath my knicks ... and I've got a wee bit to go before I have the sort of washboard tummy you want to be showing off! Back to my routine of Davina/cornflakes in the morning, sensible-ish lunch and dinner, although I'm having to really avoid bread and rice because it's making me feel really bloated and sore these days. Which is fine, how good would it be if chocolate did the same!?

I'm determined to crack my first stone this week, so head down and here we go with the exercise! :)

How'd you get on at the dietician Suggs?

I did ok thanks Honey, she is pleased with my progress, would like to set a target for Christmas, probably around 21lb.

I see her every 6-8 weeks, be going since Feb at the request of my GP. In the main we discuss any issues I may have had and add something to the mix, this time for example my weight blip after the holiday, my knee and GI foods :)

I find it helpful as long as she doesn't patronise me, something she was guilty off last time I tried.

  • Welcome Kyle and all other new members of the I wanna lose weight thread.... it's great to get newbies... you'll feel like an old hand in a few weeks, just stick with us.

Honey, I developed an intolerance to choclate and biscuits when I was expecting DS - it's a pity it didn't last long beyond his birth:rotfl:. I also used to eat loads of takeaways and fried foods before I started RC many moons ago (I miss that class so much!) but now can barely eat a handful of chips before I feel stuffed and OH and I usually split a takeaway where we would previously had a dish each and onion rings and prawn crackers....need I go on?

Suggs and Oakdale Minx, well done on the slimmer of the week! You should be so proud of yourselves.

I've had a bad week diet wise this week, it didn't help that we came back from Cyprus completely skint - not a vegetable or piece of fruit to be had in days. We've been eating from our store cupboard and freezer (and Mum's house) for the past 4 days - it's just as well I stocked up before we left for my brother (he was dog sitting whilst we were away). There was loads of food left - we must have over estimated the amount he eats.

Oh well, payday tomorrow and I'm going to try the OS grocery challenge so I'm going to ask OH to go to Lidl for fruit and veg. Have to try to economise - childcare costs are going from £100 per month with MIL to £472 per month with a creche at my work:eek:. It suits me better and I'll be able to walk to work with DS and leave him in at the creche and walk home again - I'm so lucky I don't have a massive commute to work every day - just a 20 minute walk. It's just as well I found this website and found out about the childcare voucher scheme it's going to save us around £150 per month on childcare costs!

Sheesh - really long post. I'd better go before they change the thread to I wanna gag dellybelly. :rotfl:Day one for me tomorrow.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
  • I think you should be pleased with your 1lb loss Rachel. Even though you probably deserve more considering the amount of willpower you had to exercise but it could have been alot worse!!

Honey - Have to admit I had a bit of a dodgy tummy after eating the chinese takeaway (think there was alot of oil in the mixed veg). Still REALLY enjoyed it when I was eating it though :D Curves has a 12month mebership but I've been assured that it's very easy to opt out of it (and the contract doesn't really specify either way so I think it's fine). It feels really expensive though - I can transfer my membership to Vegas so I hope it'll encourage me to keep at the diet when we move.

Delly Hope you had a lovely time in Cyprus. I'm struggling as to what to do with all the bad foods we've got in the cupboards and freezer. Seems like a waste of money not to eat them. Might ask mum if she wants to swap them for bags of fruit or something (she has two [STRIKE]cookie monsters[/STRIKE] of my brothers living with her) so we can use them up. Good luck with the economising and hurrah for payday!
  • Put on 0.5lb over the last two weeks with being ill and naughty. Grrrr at myself. I seem to spend more time off the wagon than on these days.

Keep telling myself it's the VERY scenic route :D

In other news I managed to run all the way around the little course where I normally run intervals (run then walk). Bit chuffed with myself but now have to find a longer course. This time last year I wouldn't have managed to run for longer than a minute of it so something is working!

    I'm an apprentice TOG ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: I stopped being an apprentice when I hit the last big birthday!!! Just want the T-shirt now :D
Oh, MTGG - very clever, would never have got that!

Wow Delly I didn't realise childcare was so expensive  (comes of living 'oop North' I guess) - it's a helluva lump out of your income I imagine.
Good luck with the grocery challenge. I'm lucky in that we have 3 supermarkets in our small village (Iceland, Somerfield & Co-op) and they're quite competitive, so it's the consumer who comes out on top every time :T

Rachel You should be proud of your weight loss. Mostly if people miss a week, they tend to go overboard on the treats (in the hope of getting it off before weigh-day) and end up gaining! Your life seems very hectic, with all the travelling, so the scenic route is probably the best way for you too. Enjoy the scenery on the way to your destination - it won't stop you getting there in the end :D

JenIttels Don't worry about the ½lb gain, you'll soon lose that with all the extra exercise. It's not only what the scales say that matters you know. I bet you're seeing your body change shape & tone up. You must remember to take your measurements every month or so, that'll help to keep you motivated.

Having done the month-end figures for my class last night, I found they had lost just short of 15 stone between them over the month. I'm so proud of them, can't wait to tell them all next week :j
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

well done guys, we are all doing so well. I weighed this morning and have losyt 1.5lb. Very pleased with that before my holiday. Really perked me up. I have taken 3 trackers to write down whilst i am on holiday to keep me on track. So I have decided I will aim for 10 stone 5lb, which will be my target weight and then I should be able to weigh and not have to pay. That will be 5lb off top of healthy BMI and then I will have 3 or 5lb allowance where I can still be at target but not have to worry if I am 5lb over or under.

Anyway tomorrow is last day at home before hols. Managed to get eve off work so that should may things less chaotic.

Hope to post tomorrow but if I don't it will be cos I'm busy with hol preparation.
