    Evening all

Just a short post tonight as I've got other things I must do.

Welcome to the newcomers - there's more information about the 2 pound club here. If you'd like to join just let me know.

The Slimmer of the Week award is shared between Suggs and Oakdale_minx this week - well done to you both! :D :T

A joint weight loss of 16lbs this week, which is quite impressive considering how many people were struggling. Have a good week everyone.

  • Hello,
Back from Milton Keynes - Suggs - was very busy and only just made the train back to Manchester so couldnt drop in with either you or Lois for a quick cream cake!
Had a SW bar for brekkie, an egg sandwich and a handful of crisps for lunch (provided at meeting so no chioce) and Syn Free leek and potato homemade soup for tea (but did have 2 pieces of granary toast with it)
Just had about half a lb of raspberries too!
Could have been a lot worse as working days go.

Have customers in the office tomorrow too so another minefield of a diet day - perhaps I should just give it all up and be a dinner lady - at least the food would be healthy these days!

Well done to all those that have lost this week and welcome to all the returning and new members!

    Off to walk dog now
    Take care
    Rachel.
  • Hi really need to kickstart my diet, keep putting it off:rotfl:

Have about 6 stone to lose, have done ww online but cant get motivated, what other diets do people use, need help!

Aiming for 2-3 pounds loss a week, is this normal?

    Kyle
  • you normally lose that in the first or second week but you should try to aim for 1 to 2 lb a week after that. they do say the slower it comes off the longer it will stay off.

well done to all the losers this week. your an inspiration.
    HOW MUCH ?
  • In case anyone cares thought I'd give you a run down of my first work out at the Curves gym (ladies only, american franchise).

It's mostly muscle based exercises using hydraulic machines which means the machine's resistance changes as you work harder (the faster you go the more resistance there is). You only spend 30 seconds on each machine which certainly feels like long enough to work your muscles (ouchie) and you change machines when the voice on gym background music tells you to.

In-between each machine you have to do 30 seconds of a cardio activity like marching/jogging on the spot to keep your heart rate up but to give you a break from the machines.
  • The machines are easy to use and time flew by yesterday (you simply go round the circle of machines twice and thats 26minutes!). You then finish with some floor stretches.

The only bad thing about the gym is that there is little emphasis on cardio but I'm getting that from aerobics and running so I hope the gym will mostly be about toning muscles. I keep hearing a phrase my friend used about her friend who had started going to the gym 'she's completely changed her body shape' which is what I want to do!

The more lean muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate is which means you burn more calories doing every day tasks (I think that's how it works!).

It's £34/month and it's recommended you go 3 times a week for 30 mins (you can go more if you want to).

    Lecture over ;)
  • Hey Kyle and welcome. I've got lots to lose too and I'm following the slimming world diet which i love cause I've got a huge appetite but I believe it's got quite similar principles to the ww no count diet.

Don't aim for too much loss per week as it can be disappointing when you don't manage it (or at least i find it disappointing so I tend to aim for 'any loss' each week!!).

Hope you start well - this thread is very good for support and motivation!
  • Weighed in last night but didnt get it on the board - lost 0.7kg! v pleased. Tried to enter it into body optimise and found that you can only enter weight as an even number - ie x kg .2 or .4 and not an odd one. So i had to tell SW that i'd only lost 0.6kg boo! Also did a fantastic recipe at weekend - dry fry off some mushrooms and leeks, till they are soft, then add a little water and veg bovril( or stock cube if you want to add a syn). Then season with saffron, cinnamon, ginger, mace (or nutmeg) and pepper and a touch of sweetener. Serve with rice for a syn free green meal! It's an adaptation of a 14th century dish that i made on camp this weekend. Was quite smug that none of the rufty tufty medieval soldiers that i was feeding knew they were eating SW style!
