Lose Weight 7

Hi all
Dinner tonight was smoked haddock, sweet potato mash, baby corn and peas, and it wasn't until I started cooking it that I realised the meal was going to be predominantly yellow! When I've cooked sweet potatoes before they've been quite orange, but I bought a different variety this time. It was very tasty, mashed really well with a dollop of quark.
Madauri - try not to be depressed. I know it's easier said than done, but hopefully this is a minor blip, and the efforts you've put into the last couple of days will suddenly show on the scales. It could be something to do with your hormones, or could even be your body's defence mechanism - if you've been starving yourself it may have gone into instant survival mode and be storing food to keep you going.
Suggs - it's obvious that it isn't possible to generalise about the sexes when it comes to losing weight, and even within each sex, some will find it harder to lose weight than others. I've always thought it unfair that some people can stuff their face with all kinds of rubbish without gaining a pound, while I only have to look at fattening food to have a gain. By the way, I had to laugh at you checking if your knee still hurt!
Eels - keep going, it will soon be payday and time for you to have a day off. I don't know what you have in your store cupboard, but you can make some quite satisfying meals with basic ingredients like pasta, tinned tomatoes and vegetables. One of my favourite meals is simple but tasty - jacket potato and beans. I particularly like Heinz sweet chilli beans and they're currently half price in sainsbury's.
Consultant31 - thanks for your suggestions. I do tend to get into a bit of a rut with breakfast and lunch, which is quite strange because I plan my evening meals so that we don't have the same meal twice in a fortnight! Breakfast is usually porridge, although I sometimes have other cereals, and lunch is usually cottage cheese and ryvita, unless I manage to save some leftovers! With autumn just about here I think it's probably time to start making some soup.
JenI - I heard something on Radio 2 this evening that made me think of you! There was a guy on the phone to Chris Evans and he was talking about his wedding in Vegas - they had a private ceremony on a terrace with a lake and fountains behind it. Apparently the fountains were due to start up, and a crowd of people gathered to see it, and they delayed it until the couple were married and the minister said 'you can kiss the bride' - then the fountains started up and music played. That would be fantastic! Can you imagine how great it would look on the video?!
Have a good weekend everybody.

It didn't work. It's gone tight around the hips. .
Put it down to shrinking in the wash!
((((hugs)))) aw Madauri - you sound so down, I really feel for you. You might be retaining fluid, it usually collects around my hips. You could try eating melon and strawberries, as they're supposed to act as a diuretic (gets rid of excess fluid), or you could try 'Waterfall' tablets.
You need to take your mind off your weight problems - why don't you plan a nice day out, doing something you enjoy. Don't give up on the weight loss plan, but relax and treat yourself to a few extra syns. Sometimes we need to 'loosen our corsets' a bit, otherwise you risk blowing a gasket and giving up altogether.
We're here for you too - whether you need sympathy, support, or just to have a good moan.

Gah, have been ill again this week - had a very upset stomach, and felt really bad with it. So obv, haven't been to kickboxing (managed swimming once), and diet went out of window. *Sigh*
So, it's a new start for me too.
Well done to all those who have lost, I haven't posted for a while so still catching up on reading posts.0 -
Hi all
Sorry not been on much but have been feeling really under the weathersince Monday and not sure why. Feeling very lifeless, lacking in energy and extremely tired (maybe just doing too much for the past few weeks with one thing and another). Plus just heard yesterday that my little bro has been diagnosed with skin cancer (should be fully treatable but still a blow - especially when we were kids it was always me who burnt with Auburn hair, fair skin and freckles - he on the other hand goes as brown as a berry has olive skin and dark hair - go figure!!).
Anyway lost 1/2lb this week - not much but at least its off. Congrats to all you other loosers another good week predicted for Lois' chart.
Suggs - hope your knee is ok. I did laugh at you checking it hurt - reminded me of a Simpsons episode when Lisa is checking if the mouse is more intelligent than Bart - she wires a cupcake with electrodes the mouse touches it gets a shock and doesnt go back. Bart on the other hand keeps touching it and saying 'ouch' as he gets a shock and then goes back again and again lol
Hope to catch up with everyone else soon0 -
Faithless! Welcome back
Sorry to hear you've been ill, and welcome to the Day One Club - all will become clear when you've caught up on the posts!
Hope you're better soon.

well I've had a good day until i went to work, couldn't find my keys to get there and 3 miles away so couldn't walk there in the 5 minute slot that i had to get there. OH annoyed me. Lots of things kicking off where I do Youth Work, so I am feeling rather negative.
On a positive note today. I went into a shop that I have been way too nervous to go in for fear of them laughing me out as I was too fat. Anyway I went in. It's a tiny shop so I had to ask if it was ok to take pushchair in. Girl in shop was so nice and friendly. I went straight to this kaftan dress that i've had my eye on. Anyway she came to help and chat about it, and straight away she said to me" you don't need that size (14), why don't you try the 12 as well. Anyway i just tried the 14. I was happy with the way it fitted and bought it. Was so chuffed though as she commented as I was going that she could see that I was a size 12 on bottom. Such great shop I'm quite certain I will go there again. Good prices and fantastic service. Just what you need. Plus they had some fab Boots that I just may go back and try on tomorrow.
Anyway trying hard not to be naughty with treats tonight but not sure if I will resist temptation.
Will let you know tomorrow.

Oh dear, every seems a bit off the boil at the moment, don't they?
I've had a better day, managed some Davina this morning, followed by Cornflakes, Ryvita and salad and fruit for lunch, which allowed me a dollop of shepherd's pie and broccoli for dinner - yum! I'm really sleepy now but might have to go out again for work in the next hour so I'm killing time with a peppermint tea.
I had been toying with the idea of 'having the weekend off', but have decided that it's too early for me to do things like that in case I don't get back on the wagon come Monday. So I kicked myself up the bum and I'm planning a chinese with a glass of wine or two next Friday night - there, I have something to look forward to, a week of lettuce and Tesco stripey beans doesn't seem nearly so bad now!
Big hugs to every last one of you - to those who are down, I really hope tomorrow brings a better day, and to those who are going all out to cheer the others up, bless you all!0 -
Suggs wrote:Anyway, had the scan yesterday, so just waiting to hear what the result is and if I need a small operation. I went to the gym as well yesterday, just to make sure it was sore.
Well Im sure it made sense as i typed it out
What I meant was, that as I was going for the scan on my knee, I wanted to make sure that my knee was sore and inflammed, hopefully ensured that the problems could be seen, and the only way to do that was to train. Hence wanting to make sure my knee was sore
I guess it made sense to me and to you guys, just slightly understood in a different way? Does that make senseProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................
