Hello Lois hope your ok, I do hope the size issue you seem to have is only in relation to slow cookers :p

I always say it's not the size, it's the fit! ;)

I'm good thanks Suggs - glad it's Friday, but still got lots to do before I can finish work.

Hope everyone's having a good day.

Jenpoptab - hope you've cheered up a little. The headache is easing a bit, its a lovely day here today so hard to be gloomy. We have been outbid again on the house we were after. I'm fed up with the whole situation. Everything we go for rockets out of control. If we had a bit more room here we would stay put and not bother moving. The whole thing is getting me down.

DH bought me a bar of chocolate this morning to cheer me up - cadbury highlights, meant to be no added sugar and low fat - yeah right, its 8 syns  No thanks, would rather wait and have a glass of wine tonight if my head is better ;)

DD is settling well into school - she came out today and said she had had a good day but thank goodness its Friday! Didnt like to tell her it was like this for the rest of her school/working life :rotfl:

Off to find something free and filling to have for lunch. Have to take DD to a birthday party later and want to be stuffed so I am not tempted to nibble!

That is so true, people who see you everyday don't notice, I bet you are looking great!

I'm having a wobbly day- tears and everything. So far I am not tempted to eat rubbish, I do have a few points over from yesterday if my day gets worse though.

Hope everyone feels positive today, good luck for the weekend.

Jenpoptab, thanks for that, to be honest been as big as I am I rarely think that I look great :o Other people pass comment and say some great things, and sometimes when I put something on that fits better or for the first time in ages it makes me feel good :)

I hope all ok with yourself, wobbles are fine ((( hugs )))

:rotfl: When my son first started school,we'd talked about it for weeks beforehand - the day finally arrived and he went off quite happily. When I went to pick him up and asked if he'd had fun, he said "Yes but I'm glad it's all over". He was gutted when he found out he'd got to keep on going! Bless!!
Mind you, things changed and we used to say he was a professional schoolboy - he'd have kept on going forever, he loved learning (still does).

Well an okay day today. On a training course this morning which was good as it kept me busy and free from snacks (an additional work day as I normally only do 2 days a week lol). At snack time they had biscuits, as usual, but also strawberries and grapes so I had a handful of each (not the biscuits - I know what you were thinking :p ). had a healthy salad lunch in town with a colleague and then went shopping - shame to waste a child free afternoon and not indulge !!! Didn't feel hungry tonight but decided I should eat something so had some chicken breast to nibble on. Now having a Vodka Ice as a treat.

Thanks Honey and Consultant for your tips on work snacks and the slow cooker - have decided to give them both a go next week. I think a beef casserole for the slow cooker and some Ryvita Goodness bars as I like those for my snacks cause that would give me one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Unfortunatley I adore rich tea biscuits and I don't think I can stop at 1 or 2 or 3...... I know my will power is shocking!

Didn't get my weigh in done this morning Suggs as had to rush off to work so will weigh in tomorrow and report back:rolleyes: . Hope your knee is okay - strange you can still train and play rugby with it until you get the scan.

Ciara - well done 3.5 lbs way to go girl :T

Jennitels - well done on resisting the dip and making your own - always hand to have a pot of Quark or natural yoghurt lying around to make your own things instead so you can still enjoy.

Katy - well done on maintaining - good luck for next week.

Jenpoptab - ah its nice to get those compliments isn't it and you have done so well. (((((((((((())))))))))) for having a wobbly day - I have quite a few of those at the moment but the main thing is to keep going - your builders won't be there for ever and your daughter will stop whinging - (or at least when she eventually grows up and leaves home you won't hear it so much :rotfl: )

Tallgirl - hope the lunch went ok.

honey - sorry to hear about your house - what area are you looking for houses in as it would seem to be a boom area? I am sure you will get the one that is right for you when it comes along.

Anyway thats all for me tonight - have a lovely weekend everyone
  • Big :grouphug: to jenpoptab and honey. Sorry you guys are having a bad time of things. Tomorrow's another day though, chin up!

I'm doing so well through the days recently - I've said 'no' to countless biscuits at work, and have managed to exceed my 5 a day with the help of some lovely melon and pomegranate. However, evenings are really tough, especially when I'm on call. Normally when I'm feeling like I might have to raid the cupboard for something I would take the dogs for a stroll but I can't go far in case I am needed and anyway, the nights are getting so dark now. Tonight I had a lovely dinner of slow-cooked gammon with beetroot and broccoli and a tiny handful of oven chips with it, and I was so full, but I still found myself nibbling on 2 Ryvita with light soft cheese (which is still full of fat!). In days gone by that would have been white toast with full fat cheese, but I still think I could do better!

Another thing - what do you guys make of 'diet' soft drinks? My favourite drink is fresh orange juice and I used to go through loads of it, but I have started watering it down so I am not taking too much sugar. I wondered if a diet coke would be ok as a treat, considering I don't normally have fizzy drinks in the house.

Hi Eels - have you tried Philadelphia extra light? It's only 5% fat and is quite palatable.

Diet coke and other fizzy drinks are great because they're like a treat without any calories, but they're full of chemicals like Aspartame, which worries me! I'm not saying I never drink them, but I only drink them now and then. I've really got into drinking plain water this summer - I think that's because it was so hot in July! I'm really into the good old british cuppa, but I also like herbal tea - peppermint in particular, and try to reduce the amount of caffeine I drink by having herbal instead. (I think de-daffeinated tea and coffee is a crime!)

    No, but I will!

I am with you on the aspartame front, I've only got one liver and it has a hard enough time on wine nights as it is ...! I always used to (stupidly) drink the 'full fat' version feeling virtuous because I wasn't subjecting myself to artificial sweeteners, but I guess the sugar (and the resulting 5 stone excess in weight) is probably more damaging to me right now! :o
  • Gosh a lots happened on herewhilst i've been away! I had laser eye surgery a couple ofweeks ago so I stayed away from the computer for a while but i'mn okay now. Sorry to hear you haven'tgotthe housestuff sorted yet honey!
