How much weight have you lost altogether. Imagine it going on pound by pound by each biscuit that you put in your mouth.

That's a really good strategy Honey. A cartoon image comes into my mind with someone picking up a delicious looking cake or bar of chocolate, and as they consider eating it, it morphs into something gruesome and ugly!

To expand on it further, it might help us all to use visualisation to help us in a positive way, for example, when exercising, we could imagine our muscles firming up and the fat cells reducing.

I'm off to do the RC DVD now, back later.

Thanks guys. Its out of stock, but the postage to N Ireland is high! Some of these places charge extra for postage across that little bit of water between us  I will look for something local. Am looking forward to it now.

Alyssa mae - well done with the biscuit situation :T

    Hi

All this talk about slow cookers has inspired me to dig mine out of the cupboard and give it another try. Every time I have tried mine I have ended up with either brick hard veg or the casserole drying out too much and burning !!!????!!! Therefore it was resigned to the back of the cupboard. I think I may have had the heat on too high for an all day cook reading Madauri's post but not sure what happened re the veg being too hard when it had been on for 9 hours!! - any clues anyone???

I had an okay day today but have identified another area of weakness (come to the conclusion my whole life is an area of weakness but thats another story :rotfl: ). At work there are lots of biscuits in our office and normally I work on my own so I get a bit bored - not that there isn't stuff to do just being on your own is a bit boring. Anyway as a result I scoffed 2 ginger nuts and 2 chocolate digestives not a huge amount I know but I am so annoyed with myself for not resisting more - I did really well til 3pm and then lost it. Its horrible knowing the biscuits are there cause they just seem to be calling to me - not quite sure what to do to get round this one - any ideas anyone???

Hope you have all had a good evening

If you know you get hungry mid-afternoon, take something yummy but slimming with you. Perhaps a Mullerlight or jelly and fruit in a little bowl, or if you can't manage to eat something like that, how about a Hi-Fi bar (if you go to class) or a Ryvita Goodness Bar (2 for a HEB) Alpen Light Bars (2 for a HEB) or an Allbran Honey & Oat Bar. At least these are tasty and biscuity, so may help you. They're full of fibre too, so keep you feeling full for longer.

As for the slow cooker veg being hard, you need to cut them small and make sure hard veg (like spuds & carrots) are under the liquid. I made this mistake the first time but it's been fine since I put them in first and the meat on top.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Moira - I have the same problem in work. I took my own packet of rich tea fingers in and keep them in my drawer. They are only 1 syn each so I have a few of them when the others get stuck into chocolate digestives. Oh, and I buy extra muller lights and keep them in the fridge in work.

  • I think I might have to invest in one of these slow cooker things. There's nothing like a hearty stew when the weather starts turning cold.

My chicken and tarragon stew was very nice but a little bit on the runny side. I like a thick stew. what can I put in it to make it more stodgey?. Also how much bovril are you supposed to put to water to make a stock?

I had a good laugh at the use of the word P r i c k being filtered out. It took me a while but the penny eventually drop.

Hi Alyssa-mae - I find adding chopped tomatoes seems to have a thickening effect on the sauce, and I also add very little water, which helps. If the stew still needs thickening, cornflour is quite low in syns/calories and isn't loaded with salt like gravy granules (in case you're concerned about your salt intake, as I am!).
