Welcome Ciara and Good luck! I dont think it matters when you start, as long as you are motivated (which you sound like you are) you should do just fineif you get weighed this week with PMT bloat etc by next week you'll have lost the bloat and some extra weight and be really motivated to carry on.
I have been good today... made my lunch and pointed it up... started craving candy... but have been drinking water and trying to let the feeling pass. I think its working!!! Will go for an after work work with the OH this evening. Hope everyone is doing well.Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. -Mark Twain

alyssa_mae wrote:I lost 1/2 lb this week. did I make a mistake by eating my Dinner just before I went to s/w? Next week I'll eat when I get back and see if it makes a difference. I also went climbing up Coombe hill in Wendover today. but got lost. My freind and I had two 3yr olds a 2yr old in a buggie and a dog. We had to abanden the pushchair when it got too trecherous. but eventually we made it to the top of the hill (don't know how) We were walking for 3 hours. I had the baby on my shoulders at one point trying to climb a steep path. how we made it up there I don't know but we did eventually. It was a fantastic work out but one we won't be repeating.
If you have your meal before class it will show on the scales, but if you do it the same way every week, it'll work out ok.
Sounds like your weight loss will be great next week with all that exercise :T
Honey, well done on your weight loss and also on getting the offers on the house. You must be feeling great just now :j
Delly, I do hope you feel better soon, it sounds really rough at the moment. I swear by Benyline for coughs, but everybody's different. Try putting a few drops of lavendar oil on your pillow at bedtime - it knocks me out every time!
Faithless Please take my advice and dump the scales altogether. They cause people to over-indulge with misery when they refuse to show the numbers you expect. Just keep on plugging away at the diet and if the pounds don't come off, it's odds on that you will be losing inches. Have you measured yourself lately?
JenIttels I once took a huge block of cheese into my group, along with a sharp knife and asked people to estimate and chop off a 1 oz piece (28gms for the younger posters, lol). Everyone over-estimated (most by quite a lot and one person lopped off a piece weighing just short of 3 ozs. So it really is vital to weigh and measure all HEs and syns carefully, especially if you're within about a stone of your target. Also, I feel that (for me anyway) bread seems to make for fluid retention, so if you can do without for a week it may well show a good result for you.
Rachael Yes, I have had a member come in jeans by mistake, weigh in at 2lbs more than she expected and insist on stripping off to be weighed again  . It caused a great laugh in group, but the jeans came up as weighing around 2½lbs so she was well pleased :rotfl:
Finally, welcome Ciara. Like Honey, I don't think it matters when you start, what matters is your positive attitude. Keep it up and you'll be fine!
At group last night, we were discussing planning - with a capital 'P'.
You know how, with a lack of planning, you get home from a long day, starving, nothing syn-free to nibble on while the meal cooks - so you get stuck into a packet of biscuits (or a bottle of wine for the alco's amongst us :rotfl: ).
I have set the members up with a task - to decide what they are going to be doing during the next week, identify their weak points/times and plan how they can overcome them. Since I'm definitely not immune from temptation, I'm going to do it too and see how many of us have a better than average weight loss next Tuesday.
Anyone here like to join in on the challenge?I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I'm joining in already C31. Having now sent away the biscuits and chocolate bars into my OH's office I am going to try and make a few syn free snacky type things that i can freeze and grab when necessary as laziness is my biggest downfall! I will sit down and figure out my risky times in the next week as well.
It's a great challenge! Also love the little stories you tell about classes (especially about the jeans off!)!
Btw all, tescos have got offers and reductions on lots of their fruit and veg range at the moment so get stuck into it!0 -
Just off to class now - wish me luck !
Anything lost will be a flipping miracle!
Will report back later.

Consultant - count me in. I need a personal organiser as I am the most unorganised, unplanned person - you have been warned!! My [STRIKE]frisky[/STRIKE] oops, I mean risky times are the evenings :rotfl:
Rachel - good luck hon - you never know. Wear your helium trousers! DH always says that to me before I go to weigh in!
I'm in an awful giddy mood today sorry!0 -
hi everybody
unfortunately i have put on half a pound. I have looked back an now I can see exactly what effect bread has had on me as I ate loads whilst camping, and i haven't had any for months now!
I have been sooooo good today, I have stuck within my points and have a hot choc as my treat later. I have doen nearly two hours of mowing the lawn etc. Walked to and from school three times today, only 10 mins each way but still thats great. Two hours walking around chatting to Young people in town as part of my detached youth work, which was easily 4 miles.
So next week i expect to lose that 1/2 I gained and be closer to the top of BMI healthy range. Also just over 3 weeks 'til hols so determined to be lighter than I am now for that!
Good luck everyone this week.

Jenpoptab - Dont look at it as putting on half a pound - look at what you have lost overall - 18 1/2 lb is great - same as me too!0

I lost 2 lbs!
Celebrated with a nice tea (cooked by OH whilst I was at the meeting) of wholewheat pasta and tomato and chunky veg sauce - homemade and perfectly edible! Oh, and a sneaky cherry bakewell Mr Kiplings cake.
Then felt guilty about the cake and dragged poor dog off for a brisk half hour walk - he's actually a bit thinner now too!
The running total is now 10lbs.
Quite chuffed with myself really.
Here's to 2 more next week (i have no excuse as I'm at home all week - no work travelling this week- and on my own for the weekend).

I'll join too, Consultant.
And Honey... we WANT more of that awful giddy mood... in case it catches!'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
Yay Rachel - 2lbs off, brilliant :j
Honey, I'm not sure we want to know about your frisky moments :rotfl:
Ok Madauri, Honey & JenIttels the challenge begins whenever you're ready. Get out a notebook and plan, plan, plan. Identify the times when you'll be short of time. Think of some things you can have either in the fridge or freezer, which you can grab when you're busy or extra hungry!
Some meals can be made in larger than normal amounts so that leftovers can be frozen for another day. I firmly believe that a slow-cooker is more a necessity than a luxury - throw in lean meat, some veg and a tin of tomatoes and it'll be bubbling away when you get home from work (or a busy day at home). The smell is gorgeous and a lovely meal on the table within 10 mins - who says fast food can't be slimming???
Consider making mousse from sugar-free jellies and vlf fromage frais - you can slice fresh fruit into it before it sets and it's lovely when you're desperate for a sweet treat.
If you can think of anything else, please post it for everybody to share.
Yell if you need a booster shot mid weekI let my mind wander and it never came back!0
