A tip from a member at my group this week - spit on the leftovers immediately - it's funny but you really don't fancy it after that :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hi all - phew, I've only been away since Monday and so many new pages! Where do I start...?!
Firstly, Torquay was lovely, I wish we'd stayed longer - the weather was perfect, warm and sunny enough to swim in the outdoor pool (I usually have to be abroad to do that!). We went on the steam railway which was a real blast from the past, and did lots of walking on the beaches and up and down the cliff paths - I'm still feeling aches and pains as a result. We'll definitely go back.
Rachel - sorry to hear about your gran, I hope she's on the mend now. Well done on your weight loss.
Honey - well done! 3lbs is very impressive. :T Pleased to hear you're getting interest in the house as well. Have you found anywhere you like yet? Oh, and I'll have some of whatever it is making you frisky! lol
Dellybelly - I've probably missed you, but just in case you're still around, have a fantastic holiday, and I hope you shift the flu very soon.
Moira - thanks for the sun dance, it obviously worked!
Tall Girl - my 'must try harder' comment was actually directed at myself, but I'm pleased if it's helped you to stay focussed this week too.
QT - sorry to hear you gained, but it could have been much worse. Isn't it funny how people show their love with food - I guess it's a human trait, and it's hard to refuse when you know the person has probably bought things specially, or made an effort for you.
Jenpoptab - sorry you gained too, but it sounds like you know why, and you're focussed on your plan, so I'm sure you'll see a result next week.
Faithless - don't give up! I can tell you from personal experience that if you resign yourself to being fat (which you're certainly not, even if your friends scales are correct) and give up eating healthily, you'll gain weight and a few months down the line your clothes won't fit and you'll be depressed at having to buy larger sizes. I'm a slave to the scales myself, but my advice would be to throw yours away, and measure yourself instead - the waist measurement is the best indicator and the area you're most likely to see a difference if your diet is working - but you'll need some patience. Or, you could make a regular visit to your local Boots or Lloyds chemists - their scales are calibrated regularly, so they will be accurate. And wear the same clothes and shoes each time!
Consultant31 - thanks for the planning suggestion. Maybe the thought for the week should be 'losing weight doesn't just happen - you have to plan for it'! Today I made a good move towards planning - I've signed up for RC's premier club, which involves paying for classes by Direct Debit, a bit like gym membership, so the more classes I do, the better the value for money. Now all I have to do is convince myself to go - and I plan to go on Thursdays and Saturdays.
I really value my slow cooker too, for stews, chilli, vegetable curry, and in the winter I often throw in all kinds of vegetables with tinned tomatoes, herbs and stock for a really warming, filling soup.
Katyk and Mrs Yatesy - well done :T
Hi Swizzle and Ciara - welcome to the thread. Let me know if you want to join in the 2 pound weight loss club. There's more information about it here.
To anyone I've missed, keep going with whatever plan you're following and good luck for your next weigh in.
I'm off to London tomorrow , so catch you all at the weekend

Hope you have a lovely time Delly and here's to a full and speedy recovery. Welcome Swizzle! MrsYatesy, your child sounds like my OH - *prodding dinner with fork* "Are these ... vegetables?" Liking your planning JenI - better than I could ever muster. And likewise jenp 'saving for unforeseen circumstances' - a true MSE weightloser! Thanks for the idea about freezing portions of 'healthy' stuff for my dinner, consultant. I think that could certainly help speed up my weight loss when OH's is in one of his 'pie' moods!
Am managing to do a bit of RC DVD every day (did it right through twice this week) - I am forever indebted to consultant for that recommendation, and a cheeky jump on the scales this morning tells me I have somehow (?!) lost overall 8lbs since I started weighing myself 4 weeks ago! I'm quite sure my scales are totally unreliable cos they were about 50p and crappy, and I'm so heavy I'll need to lose some more before I really notice a difference, but I am delighted! OH has awarded me with Davina's DVD now - another one kindly recommended by someone here - so if I get home in good time tomorrow night I might have a go with that.0 -
CheekyMole - the dog is already fat enough with the left-overs, but he'd like to say thank you for speaking up on his behalf!!Misguided maybe, but never really bad!! :A0

JenIttels wrote:Sorry - didn't mean to presume anything about your family. As i say i'm still emotionally scarred from the chilli incident! Hope it works out. As you say, sometimes it's just easier to do seperate meals! Can't you get lean mince? Would that not be suitable on red days?
funnyly enough I once made a chilli with quorn and they all like it exept me. so I was sure they would like the lasangne. but you can't please everyone can you. thanks for trying to help.HOW MUCH ?0 -

Fairy liquid works better. I would still eat them covered in ketchup!

Thanx for all your suggestions for the lasangne. can't spell it.HOW MUCH ?0 -

Sounds like you're doing ever so well!! :T0 -
At my sw class last night we did woman of the year awards. I've never seen it done before and it was really wonderful listening to the women's stories. There was one that had lost about as much as i want to lose (6/7stone altogether) and she looked really great - you'd have never guessed she was ever overweight until you saw her 'before' pictures.
I know we read about these success stories in magazines etc but it really hits you when it's someone 'real' like that. It bummed me out a little that i wouldn't see it next year as i'll probably be at some terrible american slimming club instead by then.
I've realised it's going to be so hard controlling my food intake out there being that they're not very veggie friendly, their portion sizes are massive and i'll be without SW!! I may consider doing the postal thing just so i don't ruin all the good i've already done. I've also started looking into US quorn suppliers (as it's just not that common out there)and there does seem to be a few in Vegas so hurrah!
Now THAT'S some planning!
Have a good day all.0
