Hi
Thanks for the warm welcome, I did my first weight in- the starting point last night- used 1 of those machines with the printout so I can keep a record. I weigh more than I thought, so will have 1 stone and 1 lb to lose.
Cheaky mole we leave the Uk on 22nd Nov, when do you go?
I am doing SW and will have mainly `green days` I`m not a big meat eater. But 2 questions please.
1. Can I eat as much quorn as i like?
2. Need help with lunches- I work 4 days a week, part time so don`t have a lunch. It`s then to school to pick the kids up and home and on with tea. What could I have for lunch? I work in an office and have a desk job- I can eat at my desk- anything aslong and it`s not too messy or smelly!
Any ideas? Stuck with fruit and salad.

Hey swizzle.
There are many lunch options but these days I tend to take in a pasta salad of sorts as it's really filling but doesn't make me too lathargic. I try to keep it syn free so that i can use my syns in the evening.
I cook a load of white fusilli pasta and a load of wholewheat fuselli pasta together then drain it and let it cool. Then I add cooked mushrooms, or blanched spinach, or tomatoes or sweetcorn or quorn pieces (cooked with a little fajita spice) or fresh pineapple chunks etc.
I sometimes get bored of it being dry and will make a white sauce using milk, cornflour and herbs etc (milk is healthy extra A/B and it contains some syns but not too many for the cornflour).
This week i bought some low fat mozzerella (Healthy extraand grated it into the pasta whilst it was still warm so that it's sort of melted through!
I make it on sunday and make enough to last for three large lunches. Then I make it again on wednesday night to keep me going till friday.
I'm sure the others will have lots of great ideas but I love the pasta things and really look forward to lunches! I also keep a drawer full of apples so i can snack and usually there's a couple of my muller lights in the office fridge too!0 -
BTW you can eat as much quorn as you like. It's really good for you! Some of the quorn products do contain syns but you'll be fine with the mince, the chicken style pieces and most types of quorn sausages too. It's just shame that quorn isn't cheaper really otherwise i'd get through a lot more!!0

Morning all
I am shattered, but in a silly way proud of myself. Up at 5.30 to get to London for a seminar, then I went to my rugby club gala dinner last night, stayed on diet coke all night and didnt eat the chocolate cake dessert. I even went to the bar, asked for a beer and then changed my mind. Got home at 1.30
Now the reason for this is that on Wednesday night OH came over to watch the football and we ended up eating two pizza and garlic bread with ice cream (cart d'or low fat)I had gone to the gym Tuesday and Wednesday so I hope it hasnt spoiled things too much.
As I mentioned in an eariler post, I did weigh myself straight after the gym on Tuesday as I wanted a nice kick, it said I had lost 4lb, I know this was the wrong time to weigh myself although I down water like er water during training. So Wednesday morning I weighed myself again and this showed a loss of 3lb so I will claim this. Oddly last Friday I weighed myself and after a week I had maintained, so I might have slipped back into my 10 day cycle. This means I have 10lb to try and lose and so drop below a stone barrier, before October 21st, as thats when Im off to Mallorca with my children :j
On a side note, I get to see a consultant with regards to my knee next week, so I hope some progress can soon happen there.
I know I will miss some people out here, I always do, I am sorry.....
Moiracm - I hope your suspense has been satisfiedIts Friday morning, how did you get on weighing yourself and did the neighbours see??
Lois Glad you had a good time, I never been to the deep south west, do they play banjos down there?
Consultant I think I understand the planning, I try to keep the house free from temptation when the children are not here, and plan for when the children are here, started cooking the syn free curry with my 14 year old on Fridays. I have a stag night Saturday after I play my match, how can I cope??
Honey - Seems like good news all round, well done and congratulations on both fronts.
Faithless - Lois as always speaks alot of sense, it is so very difficult to change a thought process, I seem to fall victim to it as well.
Delly - Have a great time, even if this wish is late.
MrsYatesy - Well Done on your loss, Hope you have a good time at the wedding
eels100 - I feel that some days I need to loss more so people will notice. Then On Tuesday I bumped into one of the 19 year old first team players for the first time since June and first thing he said 'are you losing weight again' So although we maynot feel it shows, it seems it does.
jenpoptab - Shame to hear about the little rise, Im sure next week with no bread on the menu and plenty of walking the BMI will be near!

Ooh ooh, can I share my Ainsley cous-cous ideas? First of all, you don't even need the microwave, just pour the boiling water over and leave it to stand for about 7 minutes, which is what I usually do, as although we have a microwave here at work it's quicker for me just to add the water and head back to my desk.
The Tomato Tango and Spice Sensation versions are both syn free: I've just had the tomato one for lunch mixed with my HEA 5 Laughing Cow portions, which makes it wonderfully creamy and satisfying. Sometimes I add some flaked chillis for a bit of extra kick.
The spice one I add a tin of chickpeas and an HEB tablespoon of olive oil, and have it luke warm as a salady thing.0 -

Evening all, so many post to get through been away on business and then off at 6am this morning. It sounds like most of you are doing well. I am not into quorn although I have tried chille quorn and found it fine. I came from a real farm background so I am rather partial to a bit of the meat and diary. It can be difficult to get stuff in other countries we used to get some super lean cuts of pork and veal in Denmark but here you never see them. Good luck with the diet in the states JenI that must be a right nightmare.
Suggs a stagg do without booze really is hard I think I would go for the one drink one mineral water option or decide to drive there and back. I do like my glass on wine but is cutting down and I hope it will make a difference. Since last Saturday I think I have had 1 glass on two evenings and 1 1/2 bottle night which is really really good for me. I don't drink any other alcohol.
Anyway had not too bad a time away, stayed in this lovely old farm house in Devon instead of the M5 services which was so nice and the owner was so friendly and helpful will definetely go there again. Had pasta salad for dinner whilst driving down there. That is really impossible to do so had very little (my new diet tip - eat in the car). For breakfast I had bacon and egg and although it was lovely I only had 1/2 so maybe my appetite is getting smaller which is great. Not been to the gym all week which is so bad but spent so much time in the car it has been almost impossible. Anyway must get off to cook dinner - reheating lovely home cooked meals from freezer, cottage pie for DH and spag bol for me. Have a nice evening it is so lovely and sunny down south.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Ooh Suggs, how to cope at a stag-do?????
Us females don't do stag-do's (well, this one doesn't) so I must admit to being at a bit of a loss.
Since it's probably no good suggesting you go without alcohol all night, the next best thing would be to have a diet coke between each alcoholic drink. That halves the calories (or syns) straight away. The worst thing about alcohol seems to be the way it makes you look at kebabs, pizzas etc - suddenly they look like the nicest food in the world, and that's where the main calories come from.
Hope you cope ok and have fun too
Thanks Cuddles for the couscous tip, I shall try it with the laughing cow mixed in, sounds nice!
Swizzle How about making a SW quiche with either Pasta 'n' Sauce or Savoury Rice. They are very easy to make and slice well when cool, so you can pop them in a lunch-box. Jenittels idea with the pasta sounds lovely - gonna try that too. Thanks Jen (mega-planner, lol) :TI let my mind wander and it never came back!0
