is there a slimming world lasagne recepie using mince beef. I made the one with quorn but my husband and kids didn't like it. I loved it and had extra. he didn't like the sauce I made with the passata or the quorn.

Did you tell them it had quorn in it? My brothers and parents refused to eat a chilli-non-carne dish i made at school in food tech cause it didn't have any meat in it and they knew it! I'm still emotionally scarred! I reckon if they hadn't known they would have eaten it (even though i know it doesn't necessarily taste like meat)

I'm afraid i don't have any minced beef recipes but if you use the lasagne sheets as healthy extras (may have to be wholewheat sheets if i remember rightly for Red HEs) on a red day and then make the lasagne using beef it could work i think.

What didn't they like about the sauce? If it was too runny you can cook it for a little longer to let it shrink or just add some cornflour (check the syn count for this though). Maybe a few more herbs/onions would liven it up if they felt it was bland.
Remember, the sauce you make with the passata etc is probably going to contain a lot better ingredients (fresh with less dodgy additives) than the sauce in jars and if i were you i'd tell him he has to get used to the flavour as it's better for everyone, not just you!!

Sorry. Not the most useful post i suspect! Good luck

no. I did't tell them it was quorn. but you can tell. I think I'll buy them a ready made one and just make mini lasagnes with the quorn for me. I wonder if you can freeze them?
    HOW MUCH ?
  • I want to lose 11 lbs over the next 11 weeks before my trip down under- was going to attend a slimming club with 2 friends, but due to work and family stuff they can`t go now.

Going to go to each others house and have a weekly weigh in! Then save £5 a week and treat myself when i have lost the weight.

I have borrewed a sliming world book and am going to go manily for `green days`.

    Anyone else doing sliming world?

Hoping to manage on what i`ve got in the cupboard and then shop for diet next weds- Any ideas on whats good and bad?

    Thanks
    April Grocery challange £175

    Spent week 1 £29.90
    week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.54

Sorry - didn't mean to presume anything about your family. As i say i'm still emotionally scarred from the chilli incident! Hope it works out. As you say, sometimes it's just easier to do seperate meals! Can't you get lean mince? Would that not be suitable on red days?

good luck swizzle. Lots of us doing SW here.

For green days have lots of potatoes pasta and rice as basics if you enjoy them. You can also use quorn mince and pieces to make meals like spaghetti bolognaise, curries etc.

There are a few recipes on the 'Losing weights recipe collection' CLICKY which may give you some inspiration. Just keep following the book!

Hi My weekness is picking at the kids leftovers, so I have made them syn free paella from the new booklet we got last week, that way at least it's not damaging! They wolfed the lot, although my eldest did ask why it had to have soooooo many vegetables in it!!
Hope everyone has a good week and enjoys the nicer weather! :j

If you want to stop picking at leftovers I read a good tip - as soon as you take the plates out cover the leftoevers in ketchup, so you won't be tempted! I guess anything sauce-y would work, or maybe use salt as it's cheaper!

    Hi

re: the quorn, if you try the recipe again, add the quorn right near the end, it makes such a difference! I use quorn daily as i am veggie, and I have tried and tested it many ways.

You're allowed 57gms minced beef as a HEB so if you only had a small amount of the mince you could have it and count is as free on Green + the HE. Alternatively, I'd be inclined to make a large one with Quorn and split it into several portions and freeze so you can whip a portion out when you make a beef lasagne for the family.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
