HI lisele,
Believe me the hard bit is done. My PhD examination lasted just 45 mins and then we were all off down the pub. Writing up is by far the worst part!
Feeling a bit better now after the Prague depression incident! Have stuck to SW srtictly on Thurs and Fri and will be going to the gym today.
Have a great weekend
Rachel

Rachel: Thanks. That's good to know. My supervisor had me spooked about preparing for my viva. I'm glad you've moved past the Prague incident. As my OH is fond of telling me, failure is a part of success because we figure out what doesn't work. Not that a bit of overeating is failure but it always makes me feel like a failure so I need the perspective.
Going for a walk into town today and will maybe get some potatos and sweetcorn from the market. Then I'll wander back and maybe do some gardening if it's dry. Have a good weekend. lisele0 -
Morning all
Any volunteers around to give me a kick up the bum? I had such good intentions this week and then blew it last night by giving in to a bad case of the munchies(The 2nd glass of wine didn't help either.) AND I was planning to start back to RC this morning - haven't been for three weeks because of an injury - but then decided my bed was far too comfortable to get out of. There's always the DVD, but it means I won't get there for another two weeks as I'm not around next week.
Right - I'm going to publicly set myself a challenge which I know I will find hard to achieve, but it will focus my mind. I'm going to lose weight next week even though I'll be away in Torquay and faced with all kinds of temptation. I've decided!

Eels100 wrote:Thanks Jen. It's OH's pride and joy, a Toyota Celica, and we were in Budget where we have found to be cheap in the past. Personally I want to ditch it - it's totally impractical and his life savings are tied up in it. But it's very special to him (he bought it with money from his ex-wife buying him out of his house, and to him it's all he has to show for a lot of 'wasted' years).
I want to sell it and buy a second hand Skoda but there's a bit of an image issue for him - sports coupe to practical estate car ...
Thaks very much for your thoughtful post.
Toyota's are well known for being very reliable, so if your OH's car is in good condition apart from the brakes, it might be worth hanging onto it for a bit longer. I've got one myself and love it to bits, so I know how he feels about parting with it. They're not the most practical car though - not enough room for four adults to sit in comfort, so we rarely offer anyone a lift! Going from a Celica to a Skoda would be a hard one to stomach though!

I agree about the Toyota Celica we had one too really lovely car and never anything wrong with it. Husband then bought a 2.8 V6 Passat but last year I made him swap it for a Golf Diesel which was a big come down. I now have a Toyota company car lovely to drive. Anyway this is not about cars it is about loosing weight.
Lois not sure what RC is but I am sure it does you good. I am also slowly but surely slipping up, 1 botle of redwine later last night really bad. When I have a hangover I always crave food had 2 crumpets with homemade jam this morning, just eaten a ham and cheese baguette but resisted the donuts when I was in Gregs so that is at least something.
Playing golf tomorrow but have the whole day today to myself as DH is playing in a club match. I never have the house to myself so it is a real treat. Raining and horid outside so may now stay in doors the rest of the day. Not been to shops so have hardly any food in the house which is perhaps quite good.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Been good this week in that I have written things down as I have eaten them. I have had a few syns - caramel square, chocolate eclair but I have accounted for them. We are going out for dinner tomorrow night and I have planned what I am having - we eat here a lot so I know menu back to front - going to have a red day and have either gammon or half roast chicken. Thats all accounted for. We have been unexpectedly (sp?) been invited out to friends house 2nite for drinks and chinese - what to do????!!! I was going to drive and not have the chinese - but I think chow mein is fairly low in syns is it not? or just have noodles or rice? Any advice?
Oh, went clothes shopping yesterday - took size 12 and size 14 trousers into fitting room - bought size 12 - :j :j :j0 -
Well, I went to the gym - did about 30 mins walking and running on machine and then had a sudden rush of blood to the head and decided to join in with the step class. Thought it was beginners/intermediate level but soon found out it was advanced! Soldiered through, going up when everyone else was down and backwards instead of forwards etc but quite enjoyed it really.
We have OH's friends staying with us this weekend - just popped to pub for lunch and then dropped them all off at Old Trafford for the footie, so I now have all day (until they roll in drunk later) to myself.
Had a baguette at the pub - was supposed to be a panini but seemed to morph into a baguette by the time it got to me - that's all I've had today so far though. I have lots of lovely fresh fruit in, so will make a nice fruit salad and watch telly all afternoon then feel superior when they stagger home drunk and kebabed up! (secretly jealous though!)
Weighed on the posh electronic height/weight/bmi thing at the gym and it says I've lost 1lb. Can't see where though! Will wait until class on Weds to ger the "real" damage!0 -

Hope I'm not too late to catch you before the Chinese. Chow mein is about 7 syns on Green. Plain boiled rice is free, pilau is about 2½ syns and fried rice is about 4 syns (all average servings). Enjoy whatever you haveI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Forgot to say congrats on the size 12s Honey - :T :T
Rachael, you're doing well at the gym, good for you. I think you probably earned the baguette (hope you enjoyed it).
Lois, consider yourself booted. Losing weight while you're on holiday is a challenge, but it's certainly not impossible. You can still have some of the things you fancy, just not all of them. The chances are that you'll be doing lots of walking (or dancing, swimming, whatever
) so that will help to counteract some extra nibbles. Have fun and good luck!!
Eels I'm so sorry about your car - do you not have a 'handy' type of person nearby who would do the labour if you buy the parts? Garages charge such a lot for labour don't they? Try not to succumb to the comfort foods too much though, it'll add further pressure in the long run. I know you're not following SW, but you could still make some SW chips or wedges and a low-fat dip or dry fry a couple of eggs to go with them (my ultimate comfort food :rotfl: ) Good luck with the car anyway!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Been out food shopping and bought latest SW and WW magazines together with lots of fruit and vegetables. I'm going to read through both mags and see whether I can decide which one to follow:rolleyes: .0
