I am in my goal range but want to lose another 4lb max. I have hit a plateau for the last three weeks. I do all green days, this week I have had a different B every day to get things going and cooked more from scratch. I have eaten a wider range of things and got a weekly pass for the gym. Anything else I can do? I don't eat many syns, under 5 a day. It's a bit demotivating at the moment, but I've been very good and always stay to meetings. One week I actually gained half a pound and that hasn't gone yet, just stayed static! I measure all my HE. Any advice, or just stick with it? Thanks. I'm vegetarian and do noit eat many eggs or drink cow's milk, I have unsweetened soya.

The funny thing is I think I look slimmer, though.

I'm sure you not only look slimmer, but actually are slimmer - strangely, you can often lose inches while not losing pounds :T
Have you tried Success Express? It's great for giving you a nudge when things have come to a grinding halt. There is also a very restricted plan called Fast Forward, which is designed to be used for only two weeks (maximum). However, though this would almost certainly work for you as it does not allow you any treats at all, it's not fun to follow and is actually quite hard to stick to.
Ask your Consultant for it. She will want you to stay after class (or will arrange to see you at another time) since it involves both of you sitting down and working out what you are going to eat for the next week (or two). Then you must make the commitment to the plan as it has been laid out.
Good luck and sorry I didn't answer sooner, I've been out all day. :)
P.s. Do you drink plenty of water? You should be having at least 2 litres a day and doubling that during the hot weather. It may seem odd, but it can definitely help weight loss :j

Hi all, I am starting to get into this diet thing! I give it some thought before I put anyfood into my mouth - strong will power! Now I have lost 5lb my size 14 clothes are feeling more comfortable. (waiste bands are not on the tight side) I drink lots of water, cut out my 1 tsp. sugar in my morning coffee and just by looking at the food colour, have got to know what is high in calories.
Brightly coloured foods such as fruit and veg. are low wile the more blan colours - beige, cream and brown are high!

    Sounds dead simple doesn't it?
Unfortunately, for lots of people, it's really not that easy and life (plus a rather weaker will power) has a habit of getting in the way of all those good intentions.
It is a good rule of thumb to be guided by the colour of food, but don't forget that both pasta and potatoes are very bland in colour yet they are low in fat and calories compared to the filling power they provide.
Good nutrition is a balance of the good, the bad and (sometimes) the ugly :rotfl:
There is a place in everyones life for the odd slice of cake or piece of chocolate, so long as it only takes up a tiny proportion of the daily diet.
Congratulations on your weight loss :T

Hi Consultant 31 Thanks for your reply! Yesterday I went to a conference with work(just a morning one) In the break I watched 2 people eat bags of crisps and one ate a bananna.....crisps used to be my week fall, now I just see the fat content... I felt like saying to the one with the bannana well done for choosing that! I did not dare though! Daughter asked me to try veggi crisps from Tesco later that day(healthy living) I did but could do without! Today I have eaten;- Breakfast = chocolate and orange cereal bar.
Lunch = scrambled egg, 3 sausages,2xtoast. Mid afternoon snack = apple.Tea = Well, I sat in the garden with 2x large scones and a glass of wine. I drank the white wine and ate 1 scone, the other went in the bin!
You are right about potatoe or pasta with veggi's, very filling!

    Best wishes...

I have back trouble so exercise is out. But over the past week I have been cutting down on my fat intake, reading very carefully the labels on different shopping items. So far since just reducing fat in my food and increasing the protein in my diet and swapping sugar for a sweetner I have lost 8lbs. I weighed last Monday 14.7st. Sunday morning 13.13st

I am going to go into the town tomorrow and buy myself some protein shake mix. High protein, low fat and reduced carbs is great for me so far. I feel better in myself too!!

I now eat more than I ever have. I had some advice from a fitness instructor friend who advised I eat more regular, instead of just my teatime meal and snacking during the day. Increase my protein intake but reduce carbs and especially fat. Also told to take on more healthy fats, omega 3, 6 and 9.

I would like to be pointed in the direction of info on recipes. I have looked at the BBC food pages but I just want plain ordinary low fat recipes, not all the fancy cordon bleu stuff. If anyone can help I would appreciate a PM. Any replies aimed at me will get swallowed up in this thread I think.

Good morning everyone, well done losers and chin up everyone else.

About the pengiun comment - that had me in stitches but as we went to see Pirates of the Carribean on Friday this is the first time I got to check in as I have been catching up with work (one night off and double the work and emails to answer, argh!!). Last night we watched 22 and 23 of Lost.... it's getting good. So that was my evening done for...... I have to confess to being slightly disappointed at the lack of gratuitous shots of johnny depp and orlando bloom in Pirates. There was more Orlando in it than Johnny and is focused more on his Will Turner than on Captain Jack. However it is a good film - although slightly bizarre at times - and am glad we went out for the night. We did had a huge row on the way there and I spent about an hour and a half in a silent fume. Hee hee!!

Well, I changed the battery on my scales and weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lb since the last weigh in so please stick that on the chart for me. Thank you.

As for my weekend. LOL, I decided that as I had not lost any weight at all over the last 2 weeks that I would have a weekend of Nostalgia. It started with popcorn on Friday night, a hot dog and huge donut on Saturday and a jacket potato loaded with fat cheese for tea. Followed by something else - can't remember what. Sunday we went to Pizza hut for the buffet - I had salad so don't knock me for that one (do the 5 slices of pizza count, LOL) and then helped myself to the kids sweets and Ice cream. Dinner was 4 slices of white toast with marmite and jam (not mixed together though) and an evening of crisps and loads of chocolate. LOL, there is always tomorrow right. Oh yes, and my friend bought a box of Roses for me so we all ate those.

Anyway, I did weigh myself this morning and have lost 2lb more than I had on Friday so who knows what is going on but sticking with that 2lb loss for last week so only have until Friday to lose another 2lb but getting back on the wagon this week and being good from now on (after I have been to the cake shop this morning and had a nice cream cake to finish off my nostalgic weekend!!). It was nice for the weekend but eating all that food made me feel bloody awful really and I did realise that I don't miss it really but it is nice to have every now and then, just not all the time like I used to eat it.

I read a couple of mails from other people earlier back about having a bad few days. Don't beat yourself up about it and get back on the straight and narrow in a couple of days time. You are not going to put loads on or get an extra hours walk in or something if you feel bad about yourself. I got the Red Hot Salsa out for beginners yesterday as I am determined to get some exercise done and I figured the kids love to dance so I could do this without them trying to get me to do other stuff. it didn't work like that though and I spent 20 minutes of them tugging at my clothes and dragging on my legs before I gave up. For beginners!??! Has anyone else done this DVD, I thought it looked easy and managed to master the 'basic' step in 10 mins after having to reverse the DVD about 50 times to get it done and work out how they did it. Then they went into the main workout and and I was like 'oh my god' they kicked up all these moves without any explaination which was far more than the 'basic steps' they had showed so I think I'll be watching that on slow mo or something to work it out. Argh, I am going to be a latino shaker when I finally master the first 5 minutes, LOL.

So, all in all not a brilliant weekend food wise but you know, I really do not care and feel it has not been too much of a blip. Don't know what I weighed before but going with what I weighed this morning and quite happy with that. Don't worry if you break your diet occassionally as I ate loads this weekend and have been fine. Remember, what you was eating before was so much different what you are eating now so you are making a difference. My kids are horrible and often find I used to reach for the biscuit barrel when I was having a bad day with them (which was every day by all accounts at least 4 times a day) but I am trying to ignore their bad behaviour as much as possible and try not to let it get to me so much. next week when I have PMT will be one heck of a challenge though!!

Can I also ask someone, I thought I had to have alternate green/red days, does this mean I can have more red days than green or even just red days, I really do not think the carbs agree with me too much as I have been getting indigestion since eating so many and they make me feel so bloated and yuck. Pasta is OK every now and them but all the time does not leave me feeling so brilliant, if I can get away from this and have more red days then that would be great. Thank you.

Hope you are all having good days.

  • Hello,

Well on my first week i have lost 2lb im really happy about that as on friday and saturday i was a little naughty and kinda swayed on my diet as i was eating curry with nan bread, crisps and all kinds, weekends are particularly hard for me as we have my partners 3 kids on the weekends so thats 5 kids all under the age of 6 thats including my 5 month old baby, and that means having lots of sweeties and crisps around, although i have told my partner now, no more goodies in the house and only to buy 1 packet of sweets each for the kids and not to buy in bulk so that will help a great deal!

Well done to all the loosers, and dont worry and chin up to whoever has had it bad last week, just start fresh and carry on, which is what i intend to do hehehe although im happy with my 2lb loss, i know i could have done better!

Well Done Inspiration :j 2lb is a great start and hopefully it shows that even if you have a 'bad' day it doesnt mean that the diet is ruined.

I know what you mean about weekends though, I have my children every second weekend and its only then the take away happens and on sunday mornings they love a cooked breakfast. I try my best with them and more often then not I fail to behave, but come Monday my reslove is back ;)

    Keep it up!!
