Pug if your Dad has a good knowledge of the ins and outs of slimming, he will surely know that if you eat too little, the body thinks it's going to be starved and starts to conserve every calorie. If you don't have the points you're entitled to at the beginning, where are you going to cut back when the weight loss slows down nearer to target?

The third week of almost any diet is the one where you're most likely to see a maintain, so you did well to lose the ½lb. I'm sure your Dad's weight didn't go on over a few weeks, so it's unrealistic of him to expect to lose it that fast. Also, of course, a slower weight loss gives you time to learn new and healthier eating habits which you will, hopefully, stick with for the rest of your life.

Lastly, losing weight too fast means that you are losing lean muscle tissue, which is the stuff that keeps the metabolism up - so it's a vicious circle, the more you lose, the harder it is to lose weight (if you see what I mean)

I don't know if this will help him as he seems a little blinkered where it comes to slimming. If you keep doing what you know is right, it's likely that he will come round when he sees you losing despite having some treats :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Carbs can make some people retain fluid, so if you are one of those people, it makes sense to have a couple of Red days before weight-in. Slimmers who do all Green (like me) tend to not have the same problem because their body has got used to the carbs and acts accordingley.
If you do retain fluid though, the very best way of getting rid of it is to drinks pints and pints of water, though not just before weigh-in ;)

Thanks for proving me wrong Consultant :D

Sorry to hear that Miroslav - hope you're on the mend?

I've had a problem with my weight for as long as I can remember, and I've always wanted to catch some mysterious illness - nothing life threatening or painful - that would make the weight drop off! At school, when we learned about tapeworms and the fact that they can digest your food for you and make you lose weight - I wanted some!

Apparently, Henry VIII was obese, and as he was forced to partake of numerous banquets, he ingested tapeworms on purpose, to help him lose weight. The only problem is, having tapeworms can give you malnutrition as they rob you of the essential nutrients you need to survive.

Ah well, back to Rosemary Conley...!

I just filled in the last 5 weeks weigh in on the Slimming world website. I told dh that according to them, I would be at target on Christmas eve 2007, and he said "and 2lb over on Christmas Day" Duh, when I get to target, I will have gone down from 20 stone 8 1/2 pound to 10 stone 3 pound, and he is worried about if I put on 2 pound over Christmas? Men
Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j

    Hi Suewre

Men eh! That must be quite motivating to know when you are likely to reach your target. Is it calculated on your results so far? You'll end up less than half the size you were - that would be such an achievement. People do it as well! I remember reading about a woman who lost 19 stone doing SW. Apparently, she was so big to start with that her doctor said the only way she'd ever lose weight would be to have her legs cut off so that she couldn't reach the food cupboards. She took that on as a challenge, and proved him wrong.

Keep that goal in sight, and good luck :)

Hi folks. Not been on for a couple of days but well done to all the loosers - there are some terrific weightlosses going on. You will all be at target before you know it!!!!!

Well I don't know what's going on with me but I have been having a nightmare two days food wise. I have been sleeping really badly thanks to my little one (bless its so hot for him) and I think I am so tired that my willpower and motivation have gone to sleep instead!!!!

On Thursday I was up form 4am and during the day I had two cream cakes and then in the evening had chips from the fish and chip shop for tea as I was too tired to cook. Yesterday I was picking at food all day and not healthy choices either anything to keep me going. This morning I started of well having melon and yoghurt for breakfast but then I went in town shopping and have had some thorntons chocloates!!!! I am so pi**ed off with myself . I was so wanting to loose 3lb this week as well as a make up for staying the same last week.

Oh well time to start a fresh I suppose and not let a bad 2.5 days turn in to a disasterous week. I will get back on my plan this afternoon so that I do not decline further. Hope others are having a better weekend than me:eek:

Suewre - :rotfl: That comment made me smile lots!
I should be at my target according to that chart this time next year - I have another two and a half stone to lose - so about a lb a week. I found it daunting that it would be that long, but at the same time it's a challenge to me. I have had special restrictions put on my life insurance as my BMI is supposedly so high. I am really cross as family members are bigger than me, and pay no extra. Mortgage is due for renewal next May, so hoping my BMI will be in healthy range by then, so no more penalties.

Anyway, I'll get off my soap box about that one!

I am having a tough week. It's lunchtime that is getting me, so I'm calling on you all for some quick filling fixes. I am semi vegi - I do eat fish occassionally - nothing smoked, just very plain. I child mind, so need it to be quick to prepare between school runs and nursery runs, and nappy changes! Also I don't like to "waste" syns at lunchtime if I can help it! I have looked at the recipes thread, and got some good dinner ideas, but I am struggling for lunch. Don't mind if it uses every HE. Yestaerday I ended up only eatting fruit - lots of it, but by dinner I could have eaten everything in the fridge. I've decided I use all my creative energy thinking up fun stuff to entertain the kids, and not enough on my food!

There a challenge for you all!:D
