I am having a tough week. It's lunchtime that is getting me, so I'm calling on you all for some quick filling fixes. I am semi vegi - I do eat fish occassionally - nothing smoked, just very plain. I child mind, so need it to be quick to prepare between school runs and nursery runs, and nappy changes! Also I don't like to "waste" syns at lunchtime if I can help it! I have looked at the recipes thread, and got some good dinner ideas, but I am struggling for lunch. Don't mind if it uses every HE. Yestaerday I ended up only eatting fruit - lots of it, but by dinner I could have eaten everything in the fridge. I've decided I use all my creative energy thinking up fun stuff to entertain the kids, and not enough on my food!
There a challenge for you all!:D
At the risk of stating the obvious, what about jacket potatoes. They are very quickly done in the microwave and there are loads of quick and easy toppings too - cottage cheese & onion, baked beans, left over chilli or bolognaise sauce (Quorn of course, lol), home-made coleslaw (yum!) or on an especially 'piggy' day, a packet of Pasta 'n Sauce.
Other than that, I often have a Pasta 'n Sauce for lunch, you could always bulk it out with extra mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn etc.
Maybe you could make a pasta quiche (or a rice one) in the mornings so that you could pick at it whenever you had time.
Home made soup is quick and easy. Make a big pan full and whenever you're peckish reheat in a mug so it's easy to have whilst dealing with the little ones. I buy a big bag of frozen mixed veg from Netto's (65p) and a jar of cheap Passata (about 30p), chuck it in a pan with an Italian Oxo, a pint of water and a shake of Worcester sauce. Leave to simmer for about an hour till the flavours mingle. Whizz in a processor (or with a hand blender) and Bob's your uncle. It makes loads and it's really nice.
Hope some of these take your fancy :beer:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi Moira - it sounds like you've got yourself back in hand, which is the important thing. Everyone goes off the rails every now and then, we're only human after all! The thing is to put it behind you and start afresh, which it sounds like you have decided to do.
You set yourself quite a big target - 3lb is ambitious in one week, maybe you knew subconsciously that you wouldn't be able to do it, and sabatoged your own good intentions.
SW have something called an SAS (I can't remember what the letters stand for) which you do for a week. It's like keeping a food diary but you also make a note of why you ate a particular food when you did, to help analyse your habits and to show up when you're comfort eating, or eating for reasons other than being hungry. What you write down is for your eyes only, you can be brutally honest with yourself, and I found it very enlightening when I did it.
If you go to a SW class maybe you could ask your consultant, or Consultant31 may be able to send it to you.
Have a good week

I've had a problem with my weight for as long as I can remember, and I've always wanted to catch some mysterious illness - nothing life threatening or painful - that would make the weight drop off! At school, when we learned about tapeworms and the fact that they can digest your food for you and make you lose weight - I wanted some!
Apparently, Henry VIII was obese, and as he was forced to partake of numerous banquets, he ingested tapeworms on purpose, to help him lose weight. The only problem is, having tapeworms can give you malnutrition as they rob you of the essential nutrients you need to survive.
Ah well, back to Rosemary Conley...!

On the mendEating much less at moment though as it's awkward to eat and my body is not used to eating much yet

I am in my goal range but want to lose another 4lb max. I have hit a plateau for the last three weeks. I do all green days, this week I have had a different B every day to get things going and cooked more from scratch. I have eaten a wider range of things and got a weekly pass for the gym. Anything else I can do? I don't eat many syns, under 5 a day. It's a bit demotivating at the moment, but I've been very good and always stay to meetings. One week I actually gained half a pound and that hasn't gone yet, just stayed static! I measure all my HE. Any advice, or just stick with it? Thanks. I'm vegetarian and do noit eat many eggs or drink cow's milk, I have unsweetened soya.
The funny thing is I think I look slimmer, though.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -

Men eh! That must be quite motivating to know when you are likely to reach your target. Is it calculated on your results so far?

Yes, they even out all your highs and lows, and work out your estimated future weight loss based on your past.

Hi Fox - just noticed that this was for the attention of Consultant31, but I'm gonna put my two pennorth in anyway! Hope you don't mind Consultant.
Is there a particular reason you want to lose another 4lb? Just that with SW you set your own target, so if you wanted to you could declare target now and become a target member - you don't have to pay, and you could still aim to lose a couple of pounds more and still remain a target member. The downside of that is that you might always feel you didn't achieve exactly what you were aiming for.
It is extremely hard when you get to that point, I know, it happened to me too. If you honestly can't see anywhere that you're not doing it 100%, maybe a last resort would be to try 'Fast Forward' - it's a very restrictive plan that you follow just for one week, with set menus and no free food, which might be just the thing to get you to your target.

I've been following the threads with interest as have been trying to lose weight for over a year now with varying success.
I'd been going to weight watchers and was using the switch plan and finding it hard to get consistent weight loss.
At my wits end I saw my doctor as my weight has been creeping up rather than down despite the exercise and swapping my food choices.
The doctor said I might be sensitive to carbohydrates and that whilst she didn't recommend the atkins diet she said I need to adopt a more protein rich diet to try and get myself back on track.
I was wondering if anyone else has similar issues and could recommend any tasty high protein recipes ?
Cheers for any advice0 -
Hi all, I am starting to get into this diet thing! I give it some thought before I put anyfood into my mouth - strong will power! Now I have lost 5lb my size 14 clothes are feeling more comfortable. (waiste bands are not on the tight side) I drink lots of water, cut out my 1 tsp. sugar in my morning coffee and just by looking at the food colour, have got to know what is high in calories.
Brightly coloured foods such as fruit and veg. are low wile the more blan colours - beige, cream and brown are high!
This week I have had a sort out in my wardrobe. I gave to the recycle bin some old jumpers, t.shirts and trousers to make way for the new clothes bought in the sales - I have been saving since January for the Next and BHS sale! (Next sale on 22nd July) bit vain I know but it's all in the mind! I don' t go mad but like the idea and of course it is something to look forward too!
I have noticed a lot of clothes are 12/14 in size or 16/18 for larger ladies - this does not help if you are wanting to be one size! All down to sales and proffits! I surpose. I did put off trying on a pair of 3/4 lenth cotton trousers I could not decide weather to throw out or keep - I did not think would fit! Thursday morning, I took the plunge and put them on! I was so surprized they fitted , I kept them on all day!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Best Wishes...If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
