I have baked a banana loaf today but it's gone a bit wrong... :(

Took it out after 40 minutes (it was all nice, brown, firm etc and I'd checked it with a skewer) but when I went to move it on to the wire rack it collapsed, it was still liquid in the middle!

Sort of put it back in the pan and put it back in but think it's going to be ruined.

Ahh well, first time i've tried it so better luck next time eh? :D

I've made a carrot cake as I made one for my son's 18th as I couldn't buy a nice one on the day.

The one I made for his birthday was far to rich (two and half pounds of butter and two large packets of icing sugar make me think I went a little overboard! :o

We all had tummy upsets after eating it. I think it was the cake. It was far to rich.

I've made another one today from the left overs. I've added dates and it was lovely! Lots of nuts, carrots, dried fruit.

My cheese frosting was alittle over board tho. But I'm learning!:D
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!

Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

That's such a shame, mine usually take about an hour at gas mark 4, but I get forgetful and lose track of time and it ends up being in there for about 1 1/4 hours :o. It comes out perfectly fine with a lovely crusty top, not burnt at all. I made one today and it was stil very soft (not runny) in the centre.

Perhaps next time you could try leaving it for about an hour, the worst that could happen is the top goes a bit darker! Good luck :A

Thanks :) I think it's the oven to be honest, I think it just makes up the temperature as it goes along, must invest in an oven thermometre. When I took it back out it was very brown on top but nice and moist inside and it did taste lovely, just looks a mess!

Lentil soup - just right as the weather has turned nasty. Tea loaf - to keep the DH happy.
