  • Todays treat is a yummy looking banana cake, althought the recipe called for walnuts, i didn't have any so just left them out and am hoping it still tastes as good, although to be honest my boys would rather have it nutless, i am just waiting for it to cool now so i can do the frosting for the top.....

Never posted here before but now I have my new breadmaker (the trusty Panasonic SD255) and a non-stick frying pan (both wedding gifts!) I will be baking a lot more. So, today I have made a loaf of wholemeal bread and six American-style blueberry pancakes which can be frozen for next weekend's breakfast. YUM.

The sponge cake with the raspberry compote came out ok, although the raspberry fell towards the bottom rather than staying in the middle, we're going to have it later when my Mum pops round.

Also made some of Twinks hobnobs but used Alpen instead, they look similar but spread out a lot more!!!

I was expecting the recipe to have chocolate spread in it. I think I read Nigella as Nutella :rotfl:

I've used chocolate milkshake powder in buttercream before when I had no cocoa powder, came out just as nice :)

Currently have vanilla baked cheesecake in the oven, and am about to make cherry and coconut slice and some butterfly cakes. That will take care of afternoon tea treats and school lunches.
