    1. Mix 8oz self-raising flour, 8oz porridge oats and 8oz sugar. Melt 8oz of margarine, 1tbsp golden syrup and 1tbsp of hot water in a pan. Stir in ½ tsp of bicarbonate of soda and add to the dry ingredients.

    2. Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins. Cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

Today I made these. My first venture at baking and unfortunately half of the results were so substandard I had to eat them. Tomorrow I'll be quality testing the other half.
Sadly the biscuits were so substandard, I was forced to eat them all. I shall buy a bigger baking tray or three, try making some more to see how they do.

I haven't baked it yet, but today at my class we made puff pastry from scratch! Honestly I don't think I'll ever do it again, it's far too much hassle and very long-winded, but it was nice to do it just to have a go. I've brought a big lump home and will probably make some custard slices and maybe a nice steak pie.

I haven't baked a cake in years but today to use up some extremely ripe bananas I baked the low fat banana loaf using the recipe I got from one of the threads on here. I'm so excited that I've 1. not wasted the bananas and 2. Haven't bought it from a shop.

Trouble is I've got to be very strong willed and not eat it all . I guess it can freeze so as soon as it cools down I will slice it up, check that it tastes as good as it smells ;) and freeze the rest :D

"Freeze it as soon as it cools down"! Hahahaha! Nice try at self-control there: I know I don't have any, myself. I made some banana bread a few days ago and put some cocoa-powder and chopped chocolate in (30 pence a bar of "Value" chocolate from the Co-Op) instead of dried fruit and it's ruddy delish zapped in the microwave on "defrost" for a minute to warm it and served with a dollop of creme fraiche (this week's rather lavish treat at 60 pence a tub).

I've got a jar of raspberries in syrup stashed away in the cupboard and intend to make a sponge-mixture and turn it into a sort-of upside-down cake-thingy. That should be good with the creme fraiche, I hope.
