Cant recommend them enough! The thread has lots of variations too. The first time I made about 25, but now make around 40 after I asked how many people got! They grow trust me!
hth
I baked a erm take on the HFW bread and butter pudding, but added sultanas, and steamed them in a bain marie, they worked alot better than baking!
Also made my version of scotch pies (short crust not hot water pastry and put onion in them! Dont shoot me all you scots!)
WIth leftover pastry, I made haggis and beetroot parcels! They were yum!
Think thats it for today!
JexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -

Hob Nobs
1. Mix 8oz self-raising flour, 8oz porridge oats and 8oz sugar. Melt 8oz of margarine, 1tbsp golden syrup and 1tbsp of hot water in a pan. Stir in ½ tsp of bicarbonate of soda and add to the dry ingredients.
2. Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins. Cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.0 -
I have a cherry pie in the oven.
Shh, don't tell anyone, I bought it in Co-Op for half price and couldn't resist!0 -
Lisa26 now people will know Im not clever!!!!
Its literrally, a slice of haggis, slice of beetroot (pickled in a jar works fine, but I also got some whoopsie ones from the fresh veg bit in co op that were marinated in chilli and they were delish!)
I usually do 3 layers of haggis, and beetroot in between! I cut out big cross shapes out of home made shortcrust pastry - but again bought puff works too - and place the layers in the centre, egg wash the cross bits, then fold each side up one at a time. Any sort of pastry, any sort of parcel shape, a bit of haggis and sliced beetroot! Try it, its soooo nice, I never thought it would go together, but it does so well!I will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Mixed herb focaccia (I actually made it yesterday evening, but I'm eating it today).
It's not bad for a first attempt, either, particularly as I spotted the caterpillar on the fresh rosemary before adding it to the bread dough. :eek:Back after a very long break!0
