Made GCJ's Soda Bread for first time - yummy. Recipe says - semi skimmed milk but we have skimmed so used that.

Florence these look lovely as do all of your quiches/pies. Please could you post a link to the recipe for the bacon and egg pie you had on 26th March - I'm not stalking you, honest! I think you have already posted it. Have tried to search back but there are so many posts here and on "dinner tonight" and baking threads, I just can't find it. My OH loves pies and his current fave of Hairy Bikers' chicken and ham pie is ruining my budget.

Here you are.
From a cookery book dated 1981.

10 oz short crust pastry.
Filling:
2 tomatoes - sliced thinly. 1 Tbsp grated onion. Salt and pepper.
6 - 8 ozs bacon. 4 eggs.

Use half of pastry to line an 8 inch dish/pie plate. Arrange tomato in dish then add grated onion. Cut bacon into small pieces and put in pie in a cross shape - leaving four hollows for eggs. Break an egg into each hollow and season. Damp edges and put on pastry lid. I just go round the edges with a fork and then brush with milk. Cook 30 minutes - 190 then a further 25 - 30 minutes at 180. Lovely hot or cold.
Makes 6 servings.
Can freeze.
I use bacon trimmings - Mr T - about £1.20 for 500g - I make this enough for 3 pies. In the past when I have been out of tomatoes - used mushrooms instead. A pie does us two for three dinners.

French toast (my daughter made it :j) so far but I will put the breadmaker on now for a seeded loaf and after a bit of gardening will make a tart with some apples and pears that need to go.

3 rhubarb crumbles (from garden) £1.00 for the 3 AF crumble mix.
2 banana loaves for freezer, around £1 Pascale recipe
1 victoria sandwich .75p
Use own eggs, so they are free, rayburn so no elec, all flour from AF.
