peanut butter and bacon dog treats

1 cup oatflour (grind up some rolled oats)
1 cup of either rice/plain/wholewheat flour
    1/2 cup of peanut butter
    1 tbsp honey
    1 egg
    1/2 cup water
    2-3 pieces of cooked bacon
    1 grated carrot

    preheat oven to 180 c
combine all the wet ingredients in a bowl, add the flours to form a dough
roll out on a lightly floured work surface to 1/4 inch thick
cut out with a cookie cutter
place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 mins
cool in oven then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely
store a weeks worth in a airtight container and freeze the rest

So I made these yesterday and my dog loves them, but there was no way I could've rolled the mixture out. I followed the recipe but was left with a bowlful of sticky mess. I added lots more flour which helped a bit, but ended up just having to place balls of mixture on the baking tray and then flattening them. Just wondering where I went wrong for next time I make them. Thanks.

Simple Victoria sponge for me today, sandwiched with some jam I was given for Christmas and some melted chocolate on top.

Do you think maybe it should be a teaspoon of honey rather than tablespoon? My dog didn't mind though :D

Today I baked pizza using bread dough, the last of the puree and a soft tomato, chopped mushroom, sausage and rasher of bacon, and sprinkled cheese of the top. Delicious.

You can buy garlic tablets for dogs in any pet/farm shop which is a natural de-wormer, and helps prevent fleas, ticks and

I, and many owners/breeders, put small amounts of garlic in their dogs food. They would have to eat large quantities - ie a bulb rather than a clove - to do any damage. The list you quote from is quite amusing, raw dough, mouldy food and ethanol (alcohol) are also quoted as dangerous. Well yes, obviously!

The ASPCA whose link you posted, and other American organisations have their own views, not always compatible with other countries. Their AMVA (American Medical Veterinary Association) for instance doesn't advocate fresh food for dogs, they think it's better to feed only tins of processed, chemical laden foods.

    But to each their own.

Just found this thread! Wow I'm hungry now, ha ha!

Yesterday, whilst the oven was on for sunday roast I made two sausage meat and stuffing pies, parsnip soup and cheese and marmite pinwheels.

Today inspired by you lovely people I'm going to give making bread another try when oven is on for tea, Will use the proving in microwave tip as I'm sure our cold kitchen is why it doesn't normally work well, although I eat it anyway!
Also had planned on making some cheese and cranberry scones.

Really want to try the butter making too, will be on the lookout for stickered cream!

Ooh, your cheese and cranberry scones sound good- do you use dried or fresh cranberries?

    110g sugar
    110g golden syrup

    1.5 tsp ground ginger

Melt butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan gently.
Remove form heat and add the dry ingredients to make a dough.
