These are remarkably cheap if you use Tesco value pb at 45p a jar (approx)
A BIG thank you to Angelnikki who did the conversions for me!:T :A
1/2 cup / 125g / 4.5oz butter or marg
1/2 cup / 115g / 4oz granulated sugar
1/2 cup / 115g / 4oz brown sugar
1/2 cup / 150g / 5.5oz peanut butter - I use crunchy
1 egg
3/4 tsp bicarb of soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 & 1/4 cup / 150g / 5.5 oz sieved flour (I have used self raising but don't think it matters much)
1/4 tsp salt- Cream butter and sugar and pb together. Beat in egg and then stir in all other ingrediants.
- Shape dough into balls, place on lightly greased baking sheets.
- Dip fork into flour and then press down onto the balls to make ridges. Flour stops fork sticking to dough.
- Bake at 180 degrees/350 degrees F for about 10 mins.
Hope you enjoy!

ally18, bread doesn't NEED a warm place to prove but it does speed up the process. Your bread will prove fine in a cool kitchen but it will take a bit longer than in a hot one. Flavour improves with the length of the prove though so you'll have tasty bread0

Hi,
Can I ask those of you who bake their own bread a quick question please?
Where do you put your bread to prove? Do you have your oven on all the time?
I want to try making my own but have a cold kitchen and don't really want to have the oven on all that time it takes to get a loaf made.
Thanks for any advice.
Hi Ally, I have the same problem as you, a cold kitchen. I read a tip somewhere that proved to be the perfect solution. Simply heat up a cup of water in your microwave (if you have one), remove the cup and put your bread to prove in there. It stays warm for the time needed.
Hope this helpsMake £10 a day challenge Jan £231.630 -
