That looks delicious! I can almost taste it smothered in butter! We always made our own bread when the kids were little (DH did the kneading!) but got out of the habit over the years. Often feel tempted to take it up again but I don't trust myself to stop at a couple of slices!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Looks great! Homemade bread is so much nicer than shop bought, and you can eat it still warm, smothered in butter. Yum.0

I can almost smell it from here
It looks scrummy.
Is it all wholemeal or have you used some white flour too? I make mine using 25% wholemeal 75% white (which reminds me I need to go and get my dough into the tins)
ETA I bought a copy of 'Bread' but wasn't impressed with the recipes in it so sent it to the charity shop. I found the proportions of flour/water didn't work. The malt loaf dough was more like a cake batter and didn't rise.0 -
Welcome to the wonderful world of home-made bread. The loaf looks very good - excellent result for your first attempt.#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0

Stop loafing about, cut a decnet door step, put in toaster. Add real butter and a bit of jam.
Now, that is even betterer!0
