  • I've made a lemon drizzle cake and I'm just waiting for my chocolate cake to cool before I can slather it in ganache and chocolate fingers. The girls are coming for coffee tomorrow so thought I'd treat them and whatever, if any, is left I'm sure hubby and the kids will oblige tomorrow night. It's hard enough keeping their hands off them now as it is lol x

  • G/f carrot cake (the hairy dieters recipe) and a gf loaf, used a Mrs Crimble bread mix, I couldn't get it to rise at all but apparently it doesn't taste too bad.

On the chocolate cake? Melt some chocolate and spread it thinly over one of those glass work top savers and chill until set then take a sharp knife and shave it off, it comes off in flakes like this x

Don't bother making the lemon drizzle cake from the Good Food website! I made it earlier and it is ridiculously fatty and greasy tasting. I did twice the amount of lemon juice suggested but it just tastes of eggs. Yuck!
  • I just do a basic sponge recipe, so 300g of butter, caster sugar, eggs, sr flour then some lemon flavouring then when it's cooked just pierce it with a skewer and drizzle a mix of lemon juice and caster sugar over the top x

I wish I had done that. It was pretty much a basic sponge but then 4 eggs! I thought that was excessive at the time. I did the skewer and sugar mixture and that top centimetre is quite nice.
  • I only made a loaf of bread today using the same old recipe but for some reason it was the tastiest loaf I've ever made. Don't know what I did differently. The same old dough only cycle in the breadmaker too. Very confused. Mind you it doesn't take much ;) x
