I made some pear and ginger muffins from an online recipe I found this morning. Followed recipe exactly as stated but muffins were HORRIBLE and are now in the bin. All I could taste was bicarb. I 've had this problem once or twice before when using American recipes calling for baking soda (bicarb) and baking powder.
I hate bicarb and cannot use those bicarb toothpastes , maybe I'm just sensitive to the taste??
    ps they looked lovely!

I can't see why the recipe would have bicarb and baking podwer, since BP already has bicarb in it?

    Better luck next time.

Those cookies look lush! Would you mind sharing the recipe, please? :)

    Hello  and thanks!

I will try to put a recipe together later this week for you (sorry have been really busy at work). It's one of those recipes where you throw everything together without measuring. Also the peanutbutter chips are really hard to get hold of but I will translate it best as possible :)

    Well, it was yesterday but between the Mrs & I we made;
    A crazy number of donuts
    Lots of waffles
    Lemon drizzle cake
    Profiteroles
The best chocolate cake (at least the best recipe: this one didn't turn out best, but still mega tasty)
And ice cream (not technically baked, but hey)

Bit off a little more than we could chew for the BBQ we hosted. Stuff wasn't ready on time, but turned out OK in the end.

Some lovely baking inspiration in here! My favourite to make are cinnamon biscuits:

    100g (4oz) soft butter
    75g (3oz) sugar
    ½ tsp vanilla essence
    175g (7oz) plain flour
    ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon mixed with ½ tsp sugar

    How to make them

    1. Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees or Gas Mark 6 and grease a large baking tray.

    2. Mix the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl until light and fluffy.

    3. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl and then mix them together.

    4. Add the flour and baking powder to the mixture and stir in so there are no lumps.

    5. Sprinkle a plate with the cinnamon and sugar mix.

    6. Roll out the biscuit dough so it is about ½cm thick and cut shapes out.

    7. Dust the shapes in the cinnamon and sugar mix and then place them on the baking tray.

    8. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes until the biscuits begin to brown.

I hope you like them if you give them a try!

    I've just made these-very nice!:)

I didn't dust the shapes in the cinnamon/sugar mix,but added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the biscuit mix.

I also just made small balls by hand and flattened them with the back of a fork.

I got 10 biscuits from those quantities. How many do you make?

Had my DGS here after School. He helped me to use the pastry I made yesterday. We made 2 Egg/Cheese Quiches and a Jam Tart. The leftover pastry was used to make a jam turnover which DGS took home with him.
Dinner was Rice + peas + onion and some Quiche.
I used some Single Cream from the freezer - was fine in the Quiche instead of milk. The cream was not suitable for use as is.
