I am making some malted chocolate brownie bowls (my recipe is adapted from Nigella Kitchen, and I think she made them on the TV show). I bought the special baking tin ages ago and haven't got around to trying it out yet. Going to have them for pudding tonight with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and I might make a sauce too.

Also got some ciabatta dough nearly ready, I should get about twelve rolls out of it, I'm making them so we can invite our friends round for lunch tomorrow to celebrate our new panini press :D
  • Homemade pizzas using part-baked baguettes (I know, cheating, but it's Friday ;) ) some passata with garlic and herbs in, and various toppings. The house is smelling lovely :D

Oh no, why, what happened? I made one the other day that was really very bland, was that the problem or was it something else?

My brownie bowls stuck slightly to the tin, next time I'll butter and flour them instead of just doing a quick oil spray, but I got them out and they are fine, only one has a little piece broken off. The ciabatta turned out great, I'm so pleased as it was a long process and I'd have been cross if it hadn't been worth it.

It didn't rise for some reason.
I tasted it & it the taste was there. It was just way too stodgy to eat.

  • I'm not too sparkly in the kitchen and I remembered why today. I was making some buns and the mixture just wasn't "mixing right" so I had a quick taste yuk, I'd forgotten the sugar.

I'm really good at washing up!!

  • I made a big rice pudding in my slow cooker & included a tin of coconut milk I'd had in the cupboard for ages. Nice, but sooo sweet! Less sugar next time.

been a busy bee this morning, have made a wholemeal loaf, pot of butternut squash soup, big tray of madeira cake - just need an idea for frosting now, tray of carrot cake, creamy chicken casserole is in the slow cooker. Had intended to make chocolate brownies but didnt have enough cooking oil so they will have to wait until tomorrow. I am also going to do a batch of lemon curd this afternoon - not all baking but defiantely home made cooking!:j

  • Slow-cooked a batch of venison pie-filling, then have made pastry for it to become a big pie and I've still got a tub of the stew left over! Have also made some chocolate mousses (not baked though) and there are some mango cupcakes waiting to go into the oven with the pie later.
