Im going to make some christmas gingerbread biscuits, does anyone know how long they will last (apart from them being eaten I mean:) ) as in shelf life?
I presume they will last quite a few weeks, just thought I'd make an early start as I like to wrap them in cellophane as gifts.:A

In the later hours of yesterday evening, I baked some choc banana muffins. I had about 6 banana's that had gone a bit brown and I am insanely fussy (or shallow) as my banana's must be only just yellow for me to eat them.
So I followed Nigella's recipe in an attempt not to waste the bananas and made 24 muffins!!!
Extremely yummy, moist and banana-liscious.. and I have never made a muffin before in my life!
Also made carrot cake the other week, and a spinach and feta filo pastry pie (which I highly recommend!)MFW 2010- £112,500 + 20% Equity Loan = £150,000 35 years

Paying off debt bit by bit0 -
I have been experimenting with 'everyday' fruitcake recipes (not for Xmas cake, just for eating) and have tried 3 recipes now. I ruined one by putting rancid walnut bits in - yuk. But the winner is a 6" boiled recipe from the Be-Ro book today - simple, cheaper than the others and very tasty - that book is such a good thing ! Angeltreats I have so many cake tins I think I'm as bad as you tho I have never dared count them (they are mine and my late mother's and mother-in-law's, so not all mine) but now I'm a bit of a silicone addict and find it hard to pass that bit of Asda etc without mooching round the silicone a bit. Oh dear0

Hello all
Had a busy afternoon in the kitchen with 2 recipes new to me.
Made a lovely cake from a recipe i had cut out of a Tesco's mag - a pineapple, fruit and cherrry cake - bit different as you melt the sugar and butter together before adding the rest of ingredients. Flour and eggs go in last. Easy and has made a good size loaf tin cake for next few days. It says it improves with keeping too.
For dinner I made a shepherds pie using Delia's recipe for 'shepherds pie with cheese crusted leeks - excellent!
Will add both to my'tried and tested' file.
Had a marathon session baking Xmas cakes yesterday so not planning on cooking much tomorrow - a fish and chips treat I think !0 -
