Another batch of banana muffins.
I put quite a lot in each large muffin case so only made 9. We ate 2 and I am going to freeze the other 7.
I found that if you microwave frozen muffins on high for about 1 minute they are ready to eat.
Why did I find that tip, it means I can have them whenever I want now, that is deadly!
I really wasn't sure if they were ok or not so the dogs had em
any tips? Why does my dog chase cars? Even if he caught one he hasn't passed his test!0 -

Yesterday I made two chocolate pudding pies, it's a pastry case filled with chocolate pudding/custard and then topped with cream and grated choc. Even my sugar obsessed DS2 only managed one piece of it, as it was so rich.
The recipe is from an American book called "Dad's own cookbook" I brought it in the vain hope that my DH might show some interest lol.0 -

Well,I am really chuffed-I have just made a Yorkshire curd tart, using my own HM curds and HM pastry.
Just had a piece and it tastes delicious! :j
This is the recipe I used:

I'm not from Yorkshire, but when I read about the curd tarts,I knew that I had try them.0 -
my banana muffins smelt a bit 'odd' after a couple of days...i just kept them in a tin in the kitchen, should they have been in the fridge?
I really wasn't sure if they were ok or not so the dogs had em
any tips?
I would keep them in the fridge if they're not all going to be eaten within a few days of being made.0 -

Made a huge eggless fruit cake I used to make as a teenager - I remember it being delicious but this time it was too big (23cm tin) and not very tasty - it has binegar bicarb and milk instead of the egg and a lot of sultanas which I feel I wasted. I know there are LOTS of recipes on this forum, but please as anyone got a good 'ordinary everyday' fruitcake recipe I can make in a 8" tin (with eggs !!).
I'd be very grateful as we keep buying nice little fruitcakes in boxes from Mr T and a) they're tiny once out of the box, and b) cost what seems like too much, but they do taste nice and we need to stop buying them.0 -

I've just made a ginger steamed pudding in my new pudding basin. It took ages to do,as I don't have a wide enough pan for it to sit in properly!I'll have to have a look in the cellar, there's a few pans down there.
The bottom is slightly underdone, but for a first attempt,I'm very pleased.
Just to add that my link doesn't work, sorry!
If you like the sound of the cake,it's the 'How to bake' section in 'Life and Style' at www.guardian.co.uk

I have decided to teach the grandkids how to cook, and am trying out some recipes for them. (they are both six years old) they have succesfully made coconut kisses and garibaldi biscuits but today I decided to make some fudge for them as a treat and to try out a recipe for peppermint creams.
I like ordinary fudge but the recipe i found in a little booklet I picked up on Holiday was for Honey Fudge. and it is seriously gorgeous!!!!! I used Orange Blossom honey and it was nice and easy, but not suitable for the kids to make. I had some condensed milk left over so decided as I had Icing sugar and peppermint, to make peppermint creams.
the peppermint creams however, are almost too easy! so I decided to coat them in chocolate - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very much like those bars of chocolate with the white peppermint centre (you all know the ones I mean).
Oh, and I finally found somewhere which sells rosewater for cooking with!!! after a week of searching the local supermarkets with no success - I finally found some in (of all places) Health with Herbs! unfortunately I forgot to get citric acid so will make my Turkish Delight when I can get some.0
