Ladies ( and any gents
) I wonder if anyone of you can help me please.
I have always made my own christmas cakes etc, however I have always made regular size ones and would like to make smaller ones and have no idea how to figure out the difference in timings. Any help would really be appreciated.

Let us all know how you get on.
I wish I hadn't asked Swan for that muffin recipe as I can't stop making the damned things and they aren't doing my waistline much good.
Swan you don't know what you have started, my husband has 4 reserved library books to pick up for me on the way home, they are all Muffin making books. :eek:0 -
Today I made quite healthy oat and date muffins. Egg-free and only 1/4 oz marg!!!!!! Surprisingly nice. made a batch of hobnobs with choc chunks for the kids, and stem ginger for me. Very moreish!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

To adjust any recipe to fit a different size tin, pour water into a standard size tin that you do have the recipe for, then measure how much water it holds.
Then measure how much water your 9 and 6" tins hold and multiply or divide your quantities accordingly.
eg if the standard tin is 8" and holds 700ml water and the 6" tin holds 500ml, then divide all your ingredient quantities by 700 and multiply by whatever amount your new tin holds.
I know this maybe sounds a bit complicated by I now make tins in all kinds of weird tins and this system works! I just did this for my wedding cake, all 6 tiers and they are perfect!
Hope that helps! For oven timing si just used my eyes and stuck a skewer in to see if anything stuck to it!0 -

Today I have baked a carrot cake... waiting for it to cool so I can spread some butter cream on it. Also made some choc chip orange muffins.
The kitchen is a total bomb site but I'll have a cup of tea first before cleaning itEven if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0
