There are some thing you must not tell, what they don't know won't hurt them.
How about turning them into bread and butter pudding, any chance they would eat them then?Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I have decided they WILL eat them - I have put butter on them and put them in their lunch boxes - choice is eat them or go hungry!!!! Wait until they know they already eat a courgette one! Carrot cake they love already but they need to eat more veg so within the various cakes they have carrots, courgettes and now beetroot.
Unfortunately they overheard me on the phone to my sister or they would have been none the wiser!Every days a School day!0 -
I went on a bit of frenzy and made a batch of bread (4 loaves), some apple & carrot muffins and a loaf of apple braid!

Strangely, my friend told me today she wants to live next door to me
You're all welcome - at least you'd appreciate the effort. Just had a grumpy OH on the phone who was really off with me, so sod him, I'm off to bed before he gets home.

I am useless where making pastry or baking is concerned but I have just found how easy it is to make muffins.
Not sure if that is a good thing or not judging by the extra inch or two I have put on over the past couple of weeks that I have been experimenting with them!
They are so easy to make, even for a carp baker like me.
Are there any other things baking wise that are as easy to make as muffins?0 -
Yes flapjacks ( providing you leave them in the tin long enough to `set` and not cut them too early.....) shortbread, tiffin, rock cakes etc.
You`ll be fine.....0 -

I have tried shortbread, that was great, I think I have tried Tiffin, not sure if the rock cakes would be too much like their name!0 -
Hello all! Thought I would come back with an update on my "interesting" soup (Summer Beetroot, allegedly
)
I've brought some in to work and heated it up - it has surpassed all expectations and is bluddy yum!!!! I'm having it with home made oat cakes, and I am feeling rather smug
Bit of a funny story...I made the oatcakes (with heart shaped cutters in varying sizes) and left them on a cooling rack. As the day progressed I kept noticing bits missing out of random ones (the points mostly), and thought how odd it was that the kids were breaking off a bit like that - not their usual style. Aaaanyway, I happened to walk into the kitchen mid-afternoon to see one of our cats jumping from surface to windowsill. Thought nothing of it (I never learn!!!). Greeted her with "hey pusskin" and she turned to face me, the picture of innocence, with crumbs on her whiskers!!! Ruddy cat!!!!!

Just the two loaves of bread I did not make yesterday, not cake eaters in my house we are more for savoury things.
I spend most of my time making soups and cooking meals and baking bread.
I really must get my honey & lemon mincemeat on the go ready for Christmas, there I do do a sweet treat as I make a mincemeat streusel, which is a pastry base then mincemeat covers that and you grate a topping on top (melted butter, sugar, flour and semolina, rolled into a ball and chilled). When it is cooked and cooled you cut it into about 16 squares, much easier that all those pastry cases. I some times chop nuts and sprinkle them on the pastry before adding the mincemeat.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
