Do you really think they needed all that yeast though? It seems extremely excessive. For 600g flour I'd have thought a teaspoon of dried/instant yeast would have been plenty. Wonder if there's a reason they use so much.
Hi,
I wondered about the amount of yeast too, but it really does work and doesn't taste at all yeasty. I think it's such a large amount because the dough needs to be light and airy, and with less yeast you won't get that, even with a long, slow rise.
Marmiterulesok - it's a dead simple recipe. The only thing I find infuriating is that the dough is so springy it takes quite a while to get it to the correct size - a bit like rolling pizza dough
I hope you do both (all?) get to make them and enjoy them as much as my family do

My first post on this thread

I just baked some delicious muffins with the children
(was going to be banana and cinnamon but no bananas!)
What I really want to do soon is iced buns - I use the Apple Braid recipe on this site and just make it into finger buns instead, and pop icing on the top - everyone says they are the best iced buns ever
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Trying out another new silicone baking tin, this time I greased it. I just threw in what my hand reached first in the cupboard which was some coconut, so it will (if it actually turns out instead of sticking) be a coconut cake with lemon drizzle icing.0

I'm trying the recipe for ginger cake in the breadmaker - I know I scribbled it down from on here but not sure where it is to thank the Op.
It's got a while to go yet - but I do have a sachet of instant custard just in case:D0 -
Banana Muffins, I don't really get on very well with cake making, never very sweet and don't rise.
However, these have risen fine, so just the taste test now *fingers crossed.0 -
Yesterday I made a large cheesecake and some mini ones using Nigella Lawson's New York Cheesecake recipe. So wicked, expensive to make, but soooooooooo good.
Today I'm making chocolate crunch with white choc chunks in it, recipe is from the school dinner thread on here. It will be dessert tonight with pink custard and mint custard. Yum
