Hi,
What is a Molly cake?Care to share the recipe?
Thanks!0 -
I have also baked a chocolate sponge cake today. I used a typical sponge cake recipe and added cocoa powder to make it nice and chocolaty! I covered it in melted chocolate and grated chocolate. Will go down nicely after our student roast this evening!0

They are ok but I will try and find a recipe for some darker ones next time, they always look more chocolatey!0 -
Made a batch of chocolate orange muffins and a batch of strawberry jam muffins for packed lunches.
Both tested as being quite stodgy and not hugely sweet

Hi marmiterulesok
This cake contains no fat, eggs or dairy but is a really moist and tasty cake
Molly Cake
250g stoned dates roughly chopped
300ml water
85g plain flour
3tspn baking powder
1tspn ground mixed spices
85g wholemeal flour
500g dried fruit (any combination you like)
50g ground almonds
80ml orange juice
Preheat oven to 170oC line a 900g loaf tin
Put water and dates in a saucepan and bring to the boil then take off the heat.
Put the remaining dried ingredients into a large bowl and mix
Add the wet date mixture and orange juice, mix well
Put into loaf tin for 45 - 50 min, check skewer comes out clean
Turn out onto wire rack to cool.
Enjoy
Have made the no need to knead bread from weezels blog and it turned out much lighter than the bread I spend ages kneading. Will definatly be making this againI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.
