    Good morning all,

Shaggy, I'm stepping up to score in April so pass the baton my way. And I'm up to 14/15 MAD so far.

I was AF last night, one of my alternate musn't drink nights which have usually been really easy but last night I was really tempted.

Thinking about HALT I can see this is a very useful one

Thanks for offering to score WBF!
HALT worked for me in a way I never expected - it was L & T for me that struck a chord. Especially the Thirst aspect. Which in turn helped the Lonely aspect. Good luck to you.

Well morning everyone, lovely and bright here so have some washing in the machine ready to go on the line. I'm going to have a busy day so won't pop on until later on. Need to go to town, finish of cleaning and do some yoga

Good luck on your AF ride or just cut a few out if you are a cutter downer :D

  • Good morning all.

I can sympathise with the sleep problems and the stress too!
Was AF last night and had a horrible night's "sleep". Tossed and
turned and had really vivid nightmares and woke up terrified :(

However, despite only getting a few hours sleep, I still feel much
more clear headed this morning than if I'd knocked myself out with
booze and pleased about that :)

On, the subject of targets, I set a low one as I'd done badly on Jan,
Feb and still might make it if I can be AF for 4 out of the next 5 nights.
I'm giving it a go. Starting with a MAD Saturday night.

I feel I'm slowly getting towards the point of just giving it up.
Reading what the successful giver uppers say about it, is very inspiring
and they also sound happy about it and not spending every day missing it!
Still waiting to hear from the counselling service.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. I'm off singing all day.

    Yipee a MAD Sat!!!!!

On the subject of sleep - it took a couple of months for my sleep to calm down into a more restful pattern and on the couple of days I have had a drink over the last 2months means my sleep is badly affected and not restful.

I enjoy every morning I wake up after being AF in a way I would never have imagined!

On targets - they are only a number - don't get down on yourself for not achieving as any AFD is better than none. They are there to help not put you down.

Take each day as it comes and for me having the realisation that Fri and Sat nights were the same as any other night helped! They're not special!

    Better dash now!

Hi FUAS thanks for that post, you're absolutely right about the targets. I tend to do that with weight loss too though - I try to lose x pounds in a week and if I don't, I say to hell with it and abandon the whole thing! So my strategy now is to just do it - in fact in all areas of my life I intend to just simplify everything and get on with it.

  • some lovely inspiring posts as usual - not AF for last two nights - but will aim for next three days to take me to 17 - just missing my target - but as FUAS says it;s just a number and it's a lot better than beofre I joined this board.

    Target for MAD - 24:)
  • Some really positive comments here.

    :T

One of the many excuses I used to justify my drinking was that I could not sleep.

    Now I don't drink, I still can't sleep.:D

Out for a pub lunch today with a couple of pints of.....................

Thanks :T:T:T:T My target will be my usual 17 please. Don't know why but 17 seems to work for me - I suppose 'cos it's approx 4 days AF per week....CFTGD7gI16221845.gif
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

thank you FUAS, I didn't tell OH that I was trying not to drink last night (to hit my target) and he poured me a glass of wine. It sat there for 2 hours and I finally had a sip :( (OH offered to pour it back into the bottle) I don't know why, I thought I didn't want it. When I went to bed 2 hours later there was still half a glass left :D and I poured it out. So I wasn't AF but definitely cut down for a Friday, it would normally have been at least 3/4 of the bottle.

    working on that one :o
  • Hurray it's my 5 month AF anniversary today.

I love reading everyones posts. I do wonder if Martin ever pops onto this thread and realises what he inadvertantly started!

Everyone seems to be in a good place, sleeping problems aside, I believe regularly drinking too much is a symptom of something deeper and until you stop drinking or dramatically cut down you can't see the wood for the trees...or the problem for the booze as it were. I reckon once you get that idea straight and are willing to look at your life without the safety net of getting bladdered you are on the way up!

My views only-feel free to think they are a load of old tosh!

Have a great weekend everyone-I'm cleaning, ironing etc etc dull dull but i've missed two weekends at home and SOOOOOO behind.

That makes it 27 for me shaggy.
